Annmarie Boudreau
Annmarie Boudreau brings to Watertown High School a strong background in student-centered
teaching, principled leadership, and site-based management. She has gained this experience
through her consulting work in schools, districts, and community-based educational programs in
Boston, Western Massachusetts, New York, and California.
For the past seven years, Annmarie has served as an educational consultant for the Center for
Collaborative Education leading school reform initiatives through effective strategic planning
and implementation. Through the lens of professional learning communities, she has guided
schools towards the dynamic change needed to advance student achievement. In this role, she
worked with school communities to establish small schools, develop Pilot Schools and create
alternative programs. Here, Annmarie coached stakeholders to analyze a wide range of data to
evaluate their own school needs and assets; set reachable and clear learning targets; create clear
benchmarks of what success looks like; and launch action plans in which each school community
member contributes to improvement while working collaboratively to make it happen.
Annmarie sees herself primarily as a skilled leader and good-humored facilitator. One area of her
work includes the development of school instructional leadership teams. These teams focus on
teaching and learning that directly translates to raised expectations and meaningful core
instruction - for every student, every day. In classrooms, a veteran teacher herself, Annmarie
modeled and co-taught lessons, and provided strategies for collaborative teacher-student
practices in order to improve instruction and student learning. In addition, she has promoted
student success teams and collaborated with staff to expand student and family access to
effective services and special assistance.
Annmarie earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from the University of New
Hampshire and a Master's Degree in Education in Curriculum & Instruction from Northeastern
University. She later studied education policy and management, and completed her Principal
Certification through the Commonwealth Leadership Academy directed by Don McCallion.
Annmarie is also a certified National Facilitator with the National School Reform Faculty
(NSRF) and has for many years facilitated week long professional development trainings
throughout the country.
Prior to her tenure with the Center for Collaborative Education, Annmarie taught in Boston
Public Schools. At Charlestown High School (CHS), she was a lead teacher in History grades
9 - 12, the founding director of the Law & Justice Small Learning Community, and actively
served as the coach for the schools Mock Trial Team. As teacher, she was committed to creating
democratic classrooms where students have a voice, take ownership of their learning, and are
empowered to create their own successes. While at CHS, Annmarie was also a student teacher
mentor for the teacher training programs at Northeastern University, UMass-Boston, Boston
University, and Harvard University.
Based in Chelsea, Annmarie has traveled widely, combining that passion with teaching in South
Africa and Malaysia. She is an avid Boston sports fan and yoga enthusiast, and has been known
to successfully take the kind of dare that might include riding a horse a hundred miles across
southern Spains Andaluca countryside. After several years of consulting, Annmarie is
cheerfully and enthusiastically looking forward to working with her own school community.
