GENERAL DESCRIPTION
This course is given to the BA in ELT students and focuses on the knowledge and analysis of the English
learning evaluation process. It provides the basic principles of Testing and Evaluation at a global level
where students analyze the different elements involved in teaching a second language as well as at a
specific level in the design of instruments for examining and evaluating the different areas of second
language learning. This course belongs to the Methodology in ELT strand and supports all the practical and
professionalizing strands. It is also related to the Linguistic Systems Teaching and English Skills Teaching
subjects.
GENERAL OBJECTIVE
The students will design evaluation instruments related to the different areas of the ELT process by focusing
on the main aspects of the languages teaching and learning process.

TEACHING LEARNING METHODOLOGY
Evaluation and testing will be carried out through input sessions and a range of recommended readings.
Through the information given in the class the students will look for the best way to practice all the
theoretical content. The practice must include design, testing and evaluation of ELT tests. The students in a
portfolio will collect all needed evidences in order to support their knowledge in the evaluation area. Practice
in all the stages of the evaluation field will be applied by the students.
