Lecture MWF 3:00-3:50 PM in MS 4000A
Prerequisites Math 1 (with C- or better) or Math Diagnostic Test (with 35 or better)
Textbook Rogawski, Single Variable Calculus, 3rd Edition, W.H. Freeman & Co
Grading Your final letter grade will be determined by the better of the following two:
1) 10% HW + 25% Midterm 1 + 25% Midterm 2 + 40% Final Exam
2) 10% HW + 35% Better Midterm + 55% Final Exam
The more advantageous scheme will be applied automatically.
Exams Midterm 1: Friday, October 21 (usual lecture time and place)
Midterm 2: Wednesday, November 9 (usual lecture time and place)
Final Exam: Thursday, December 8, 3:00-6:00 PM (place TBD)
All exams are closed-book. There are no make-up exams. If you are forced to
miss a midterm, grading scheme 2) will be applied. Per University regulations,
you must take the Final Exam in order to pass the course.
Homework There will be 10 homework assignments. Homework is due on Fridays at
the beginning of class in MS 4000A, EXCEPT for HW 7 and 9, which are
due on the Monday after Veterans Days and Thanksgiving, respectively.
No late homework will be accepted. However, the homework component of
your grade will be determined by the best 8 of your assignments.
Academic Integrity You must not cheat, because cheating is morally wrong. For more details, see
[Link]
You are permitted (and in fact encouraged) to collaborate on your homework,
but you must write up yourself all the answers you submit for grading. Also,
you must name your collaborators on your homework.
