Miss Shantler’s October News

Themes
During the month of October, we will be learning about Fire Safety, Fall,
Christopher Columbus, Apples, Pumpkins & Hibernation/Migration. These are
topics that your child will be able to talk to you about at home.

Parent Volunteers Fall Fun Day


On Thursday, October 31st we will
have a fall celebration. There will be many
exciting fall activities and crafts to do

Homework
Many parents have been asking about homework. Here is a list of
activities you can do nightly with your child.

 Reading: *Practice nightly the letter/sound boards that were sent

 Please continue to read to your child every night. Discuss the book –
funniest, scariest, silliest part, etc… Your child will soon begin
bringing home books in a special book bag. An information sheet to
help you with this will be sent home along with their first set of
books. 
 Writing: Once your child can write all of the letters of the
alphabet, practice writing a few sight words and then simple
sentences. Attached you will find the list of kindergarten sight
words broken up by month. It is my goal that your child be able to
read and write these words quickly by June.

use at home for extra practice:
