(Philippine Educational Theater
Association)
• Cecile Guidote-Alvarez founded the Philippine
Educational Theater Association (PETA) on April 7, 1967
with the vision of a Philippine Theater engaged in the
development of people and society.
• It inspired the company to use the power of
theater as a means of producing plays for
empowerment and development, especially of
the most disadvantaged sectors of society/those
in the margins.
• PETA began by asserting the then radical view of
creating and performing plays in Filipino
ACTIVITIES
1. The Advocate Right to Safety Zone for
Children Project (ARTS ZONE Project) is a
creative campaign that promotes
children’s rights to safety and protection
from any form of violence and abuse.
2. The Kalinangan Ensemble (KE) -to
enrich Philippine aesthetics by the
use of dramatic styles that are rooted
in local culture and enriched by
foreign dramatic contributions.
3. PETA's Lingap Sining Project
The program is geared towards developing safe
schools and resilient communities using art and
culture-based approaches.
a program on “Nurturing Hearts Through the
Arts”, as it is primarily engaged in psychosocial
support; helping children survivors in
communities at risk of natural disasters process
their experiences.
4. The School of People’s Theater (SPT)
Expresses its continued commitment to the
mission of making theater accessible for

from various backgrounds who bring with
