Review Request: YA Contemporary-Cevin’s Deadly Sin
Dear :
I very much enjoyed your review of Happy Families by Tanita S. Davis. Since it’s along the same lines, I thought you
might enjoy my young adult novel, Cevin’s Deadly Sin. Please see info below.
Who knew that a little pair of red lace panties could get him into so much trouble…
Summary: Cevin’s Deadly Sin is the story of a hetero, teen cross-dresser: his struggles with first love, self-identity and
bullying during his senior year in a small, Florida town.
Cevin thinks that moving to Tilapia, Florida is the worst thing that ever happened to him…until he falls for Tessa. She
may be the one person who can accept his cross-dressing, but her brother Hunt’s goal is to make Cevin’s life a living
hell. When Hunt “outs” him at school, Cevin has to figure out how to come to terms with his own identity in order to
keep Tessa and quite possibly save his own life.
This book was my thesis for an MFA in Writing Popular Fiction from Seton Hill University.
Significance: Cevin’s Deadly Sin is one of the only depictions of a hetero teen cross-dresser in YA literature. It
portrays an otherwise normal teen boy and his struggles in learning how to turn his outsider status at school into an
asset.
The core issues: • dealing with bullying • learning how to turn being an outsider into an asset • tolerance of gender
non-conforming people • accepting others as they are • accepting yourself and your own individuality
About me: My other published novels are: [Link], Shadow Cat (written as Zoe LaPage) and the Werecat
Chronicles.
