Autobiography of a Reader

Being able to read and write is a gift that is as great as life itself. It is the first skill that a
child develops in his or her schooling. And by the help of literacy, the child will be able to
understand and be able to communicate with others that is why literacy is fundamental in
learning of the child. Personally, when I was a child I didn't take reading and writing seriously
because I find it hard and not interested because I want to play all day long. But when I started
attending in grade one at the age of 6 my attitude and interest towards literacy change I began to
read and write because of my parents who keep on reminding and telling me how important
reading and writing in education that I should learn these two important skills for me to be able
to proceed to the next grade level.
I remembered that I had a booklet before that was given by my auntie and that booklet in
titled "The Three Little Pigs" and it consists of colorful pictures and short text on every page. I
love short stories before because it is easy for me to remember and understand what was the
story all about, I also learned to read and write because of my parents because they always had
time to taught me every night before going to bed. I find reading and writing easy because before
I had a habit of making fun of reading all the words that I have encountered example if I saw
words in the mall or the place where I go. I will read it aloud and also I will try to spell it while
closing my eyes and see if my spelling is correct. I think that one habit help me to improve my
reading and writing skills. I like reading and writing when I was a child because it allows me to
express my thoughts and feelings and get new learning ideas from the book I have read.

I realized that being literate is significant to me and it helped me to define who I am today.
And by the help of the people around me and the experiences that I traversed the hardship and
fun experiences will always be remembered and I am so much thankful for all the learning I have
right now. And by the help of literacy, I can finally achieve my dreams to become a future
teacher.

 Pick out the most important details of the book

The Three Little Pigs story by L. Leslie Brooke

Three little pigs set off into the real world to find their fortune. After they all go off, they all meet
a man with either straw, furze (sticks), or bricks. The first pig builds his house out straw, and the
wolf comes along asking him to let him in. The pig says no, and the wolf blows down the house
and eats the pig. The second pigs builds his house out of furze, which are sticks, and just like the
first pig, the wolf comes along asking him to open his door. When the pig declines the wolf
blows down the house and eats the pig. Finally the wolf goes to the third pigs house and again
asks if he can go inside, but when the pig says no, the wolf tries to blow down the house. When
he fails he asks the pig if he wants to go to a field of turnips in the morning at a certain time. The
pig agrees, but in the morning he goes to the field an hour earlier than planned. When the wolf
realizes what he has done, he asks the pig to go somewhere in the morning again at a certain
time. This happens two more times before the wolf tries to go down the chimney, where the pig
has a boiling pot of water hanging over a fire. The wolf drops into it
The most important detail of the story is that the third pig has a wise decision and do the
hardwork to secure his life and he don't just let the wolf harm him. The qoute of this three little

B. Reflection Paper. Explain the quote from Jeanne Chall’s and its implication to you, future
literacy teacher.

Building literacy for children helps them to be ready to learn. To be able to learn literacy
or to develop literacy skills. The teacher should do this: provide instruction and practice,
emphasize the developmental nature of literacy, reading and writing task change qualitatively
and the role of the instructor has to change.
First, provide instruction and practice it means that teachers should provide a different kind of
instruction and strategy because children love learning when it integrated fun, excitement, and
colorful instructions that will surely be caught their attention and for them to grasp the
information easily.
Second, the Teacher must introduce literacy as early as possible because learner learns best when
their mind is eager to process and learn new things. Children develop certain skills as they move
through the early stages.
Third, the qualitatively of writing and reading as well as the role of the teacher should change to
the fact that students are no longer content with what they have learned. That they are working
for lessons that they think good for them. Teachers should think of innovative ways to get the
interest of children.
In summary, it will help me to become an effective literacy teacher that can provide a beautiful
and fun experience in the field of literacy. Instructions on how to submit student output.
