Power Supply, TDI/RIM, and
Keyphasor Module Configuration
Workshop
Laboratory Activities:
1. Configure the RIM, Power Supply, and Keyphasor Module.
2. Download the configuration to the 3500 Rack
3. Connect test equipment to the Keyphasor I/O module
Task 1: Configure the RIM, Power Supply,
and Keyphasor Module.
1. Open the 3500 Rack Configuration software
2. From the File dropdown menu, select Connect> Direct Connect.
3. Choose the settings as shown. Notice that a password is not required. You can also
select Browse and the computer will find the rack for you.
4. Click Connect. The rack configuration screen will appear and the connect icon will
become animated [ ] to indicate that a connection is active.
5. Upload the configuration from the rack by clicking the upload [ ] icon.
6. Left-click on the Power Supply to see how it is currently configured. You can also
configure the supply(s) from the Interface Module.

7. Left-click on the Interface Module in Slot 1 and select Options. The RIM
Configuration screen will appear. This configuration screen will be either a TDI or a
RIM.
8. Configure the Interface Module as discussed with your Instructor.
9. Click OK. The main rack configuration screen will appear.
10. Right-click on the Keyphasor module and select Options. Configure the module as
discussed with your Instructor.
11. Make sure the Channel 1 is active.
12. Click OK. The main rack configuration screen will appear.

Task 2: Download the configuration to the
3500 Rack
1. From the main rack screen, select File> Download to Rack. The Download
Configuration screen will appear.
2. Select the modules you wish to download to or Select All and Click OK. Since
you’ve configured the TDI and Keyphasor modules, they will need to be selected at a
minimum.
3. You will receive this warning.
4. Click OK to continue with the download.

Task 3: Connect test equipment to the
Keyphasor I/O module
1. Wire a proximity transducer system to Channel 1 of the Keyphasor module as shown.
2. Gap the probe on the side of the “wobble plate” to approximately –10.00 Vdc and
stop. We will verify the channel is working properly in Lab 9.
Notice that you can also read the gap voltage by connecting the multimeter to the
buffered output connector on the front panel of the monitor.
