ACTIVITY PLAN
Name of Activity : Public Lecture in Dissertation Writing I with the
theme “Strengthening Quality Academic Research
Amidst Transition to New Normal”
Venue : via Google Meet
Date/Time : October 30, 2021/ 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
Rationale:
Research plays a crucial role in the teaching and learning process. It
drives us forward to be curious, ask questions, and immerse ourselves in
discovering everything there is to know. According to Creswell (2014), “research
is a process of steps used to collect and analyze information to increase our
understanding of a topic or issue”. The purpose of research is to search for
knowledge and to add to the available body of knowledge in any field. Moreover,
OECD (Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development), defined
research as “any creative systematic activity undertaken in order to increase the
stock of knowledge, including knowledge of man, culture and society, and the
use of this knowledge to devise new applications”. Thus, researches take a big
part in many decision-making processes and in policy building specifically in
academic institutions.
In line with this, the PHDEL Dissertation Writing I students, under Dr.
Avee Joy B. Dayaganon and Dr. Sylvia J. Pidor will conduct a Public Lecture
with the theme “Strengthening Quality Academic Research Amidst
Transition to New Normal”.
