CHAPTER 5
SUMMARY, CONCLUSION, AND RECOMMENDATIONS
This chapter presents a summary of the findings, conclusions based on
the findings, and recommendations drawn from the conclusion. The findings of
the study were ordered according to the specific sub problems stated in the first
chapter.
SUMMARY
This study’s main problem was to determine the Effects of Flex Learning
on the Academic Performance of Grade 12 Accountancy, Business and
Management Students of Alaminos City National High School. These samples
included a number of 142 Grade 12 ABM Students of Alaminos City National
High School. The instrument used in this survey is giving survey questionnaires
to the respondents. The researchers used a rating scales method. The
researchers utilized the average weighted mean, and the Pearson Correlation to
analyze the collected data.
Summary of Findings
The following were the findings of the study:
1. ON THE PROFILE OF THE RESPONDENTS
38
a. Age. From the 142 respondents, two (2) were 16 years old, Seventy-
eight (78) of them were 17 years old, Fifty-eight (58) of them were 18 years old,
Four (4) of them was 19 years.
b. Sex. From the 142 respondents, Twenty-six (26) of them were male
and One Hundred Sixteen (116) of them were female.
2. ON FLEX LEARNING OF THE RESPONDENTS
The average weighted mean calculated from the data gathered by the
following indicator statements was 3.69, which explains that the majorities of
respondents agreed and are doing great in this new learning environment. Only 1
out of 142 respondents scored 1.8 below and are having trouble with Flex
Learning.
3. ON THE ACADEMIC PERFORMANCE OF THE RESPONDENTS
The calculated average weighted mean as collected by the following
indicator statements was 3.81, which had a transmuted description of High on
their Academic Performance.
4. ON THE CORRELATION BETWEEN FLEX LEARNING AND ACADEMIC
PERFORMANCE OF THE RESPONDENTS
The computed value correlation coefficient was r=0.53. There is sample
proof to conclude that flex learning is having a significant impact on the academic
performance of Grade 12 ABM-Diokno, ABM-Ayala, ABM-Razon, ABM-
39
Gokongwei students at Alaminos City National High School. Therefore, the null
hypothesis was rejected.
CONCLUSIONS
The following conclusions were drawn from the study's significant findings.
1. Female students are more likely to encounter flex learning because they
outnumber male students. Furthermore, students under the age of 17 are
disproportionately affected by this mode of instruction.
2. Flexible learning modalities help students focus on their studies. This
demonstrates that flex learning is beneficial to students.
3. Due to the pandemic, students had to make significant adjustments to their
studies. However, Flex learning has been shown to improve students' academic
performance.
4. Based on the data and information gathered, the researchers concluded that
there is a significant correlation between Flex Learning and Academic
Performance of Grade 12 Accountancy, Business and Management Students at
Alaminos City National High School. It is because flex learning has a significant
impact on students' academic performance. It gives students more time to
40
complete their modules and makes time management easier for them. It provides
them with a significant academic advantage.
5. As a result of the findings about students adapting their course to their
individual needs, flexible learning allows students to choose when and how they
will learn. Flex learning has an impact on some incoming first-year college
students because of their familiarity with online learning systems. Flex learning
benefits in general include assisting students in developing critical thinking
abilities, teamwork, problem-solving abilities, various communication skills, and
leadership potential of learning that are not promoted by traditional, lecturer-
driven, didactic systems.
RECOMMENDATIONS
1. The researchers advise students to practice independent learning without
relying too heavily on materials or the presence of the teacher. Students should
always study the materials provided by teachers on time to help them cope
independently in all subjects and can boost their confidence in the classroom for
recitation because they have read the lesson. They should understand the
significance of improving themselves through flexible learning.
2. The researchers advise teachers to provide their students with accurate and
effective materials. They should give students enough attention in face-to-face
classes, and especially in online classes, so that they can improve their learning
41
and knowledge of the lessons. It will benefit teachers because they will not have
to repeat the lesson, and it will also benefit students' knowledge.
3. The researchers suggested that, particularly in a pandemic crisis, parents
should assist their children in looking for the positive aspects of flexible learning
so that they can be flexible in studying during the current situation of the new
normal education system. Parents should continue to support and nurture their
children rather than expecting them to perform or achieve beyond their abilities.
4. The school administration must modernize the necessary infrastructure,
particularly digital learning tools and classrooms, to support flexible learning. It
has the potential to boost students' motivation, academic performance, and
acceptance of personalized learning. Furthermore, it helps students develop
critical 21st-century skills.
5. The researchers proposed that society work together to improve their
relationships in order to improve education quality, particularly for students'
progress and growth in Flex-learning.
6. The researchers recommend that future researchers conduct the same study
in different settings to explore and identify the experiences and conditions of their
future research subjects. Future researchers should use this study as a
foundation, evaluation, or data source for their own new discoveries. Findings
should be validated in a variety of settings and research inquiries conducted in
the same field. The researchers also recommend for the upcoming researchers
42
to replicate the data collection and analysis procedure used in this research
paper because it is the most appropriate for conducting this study.
