(1) Remove the nuts (110) and (140), washers (120) and (150), bolt (160), threaded
pin (130) and the bushing (170) that attaches the master rod (190) to the bellcra
nk assemblies.
(2) Remove the master rod (190).
(3) Remove the nuts (10) and the bolts (20) that attach the bellcranks to the support
plates.
(4) Remove the upper support plate (40).
(5) Remove the bellcranks (70), (80), (90) and (100).
(6) Remove the bushings (50) from each side of the bellcranks.
(7) Remove the sleeves (60) from the bellcranks.
(8) Remove the nuts (220) and the bolts (230) that attach the tie rod assemblies to t
he bellcranks.
(9) Remove the tie rod assemblies (240), (250), (260) and (270).

B. Steam clean the parts that follow:
- Master rod,
- bellcranks,
- tie rod assemblies,
support plates,
- links,
- and other VSV hardware.

C. Disassemble the Right VSV Actuator-Support Assembly

(1) Remove the nuts (110) and (140), washers (120) and (150), bolt (160), threaded
pin (130) and the bushing (170) that attaches the master rod (190) to the bellcra
nk assemblies.
(2) Remove the master rod (190).
(3) Remove the nuts (10) and the bolts (20) that attach the bellcranks to the support
plates.
(4) Remove the upper support plate (40).
(5) Remove the bellcranks (70), (80), (90) and (100).
(6) Remove the bushings (50) from each side of the bellcranks.
(7) Remove the sleeves (60) from the bellcranks.
(8) Remove the nuts (220) and the bolts (230) that attach the tie rod assemblies to t
he bellcranks.
(9) Remove the tie rod assemblies (240), (250), (260) and (270).

D. Steam clean the parts that follow:
- Master rod,

E. Assemble the Left VSV Actuator-Support Assembly

CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE TIE-ROD ASSEMBLIES, MAKE SURE THAT
YOU INSTALL EACH OF THEM ON THE CORRECT BELLCRANK STAGE.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE VSV SYSTEM WILL
NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.
(1) Attach the IGV, stage 1 and stage 2 bellcranks (70), (80) and (90) to their relate
d tie-rod assembly (240), (250) and (260) with the bolts (230) and the nuts (22
0) .

(a) The nuts (220) must be installed with no lubricant and must have a minimu
m run-on torque of 5 [Link] (0.057 [Link]).

NOTE: The stage identification on the bell crank goes up. The bolt goes u
p through the short end of the bellcrank.
(2) TORQUE the nuts (220) to between 55 and 70 [Link] (0.62 and 0.79 [Link]).
(3) Install the bolts (20) up through the lower support plate (30) in the stage 1 and 2
positions.
(4) Install the sleeves (60) in the lower support plate at the IGV, stage 1, 2 and 3 pos
itions.
(5) Install the bushings (50) on the sleeves. The flange goes down.
(6) Install bellcrank (70) on the bushings at the IGV position. The stage identification
on the bellcrank goes up.
(7) Install the stage 1, 2 and 3 bellcranks (80), (90) and (100).
(8) Install the upper support plate (40).
(9) Install the bolt (20) in the support assembly at the IGV position. The head of the
bolt goes up.
(10) Install the nuts (10).

(a) The nuts (10) must be installed with no lubricant and must have a minimu
m run-on torque of 5 [Link] (0.057 [Link]).
(11) TORQUE the nuts (10) to between 55 and 70 [Link] (0.62 and 0.79 [Link]).
(12) Apply Graphite mineral vaseline (Material Ref. CP2101) to the bearing surfaces of
the master rod (190).
(13) Install the master rod bushing (210) in IGV, stage 1 and stage 2, and master rod
bushing (200) in IGV, stage 3.
(14) Attach the master rod (190) to the IGV, stage 1 and stage 2 bellcranks with the b
olts (130), the washers (120) and the nuts (110). The bolt head goes up at the IG
V position and down at the stage 1 and 2 positions.
(15) Install the bushing (170) at the stage 3 position. The flange goes down.

(16) Install bolt (160) at the stage 3 position. The bolt head goes down.
(17) Install the washer (150) and the nut (140).

(a) The nut (140) must be installed with no lubricant and must have a minimu
m run-on torque of 5 [Link] (0.057 [Link]).
(18) TORQUE the nuts (110) and (140) to between 55 and 70 [Link] (0.62 and 0.7
9 [Link]).
(19) Attach the stage 3 bellcrank (100) to the stage 3 tie rod assembly (270) with the
bolt (230) and the nut (220) .

(20) TORQUE the nuts (220) to between 55 and 70 [Link] (0.62 and 0.79 [Link]).

F. Assemble the Right VSV Actuator-Support Assembly

CAUTION: WHEN YOU INSTALL THE TIE-ROD ASSEMBLIES, MAKE SURE THAT
YOU INSTALL EACH OF THEM ON THE CORRECT BELLCRANK STAGE.
IF YOU DO NOT OBEY THIS INSTRUCTION, THE VSV SYSTEM WILL
NOT OPERATE CORRECTLY.
(1) Attach the IGV, stage 1 and stage 2 bellcranks (70), (80) and (90) to their relate
d tie-rod assembly (240), (250) and (260) with the bolts (230) and the nuts (22
0) .

(7) Install the stage 1, 2 and 3 bellcranks (80), (90) and (100).
(8) Install the upper support plate (40).
(9) Install the bolt (20) in the support assembly at the IGV position. The head of the
bolt goes up.
(10) Install the nuts (10).

(16) Install bolt (160) at the stage 3 position. The bolt head goes down.
(17) Install the washer (150) and the nut (140).

(a) The nut (140) must be installed with no lubricant and must have a minimu
m run-on torque of 5 [Link] (0.057 [Link]).
(18) TORQUE the nuts (110) and (140) to between 55 and 70 [Link] (0.62 and 0.7
9 [Link]).
(19) Attach the stage 3 bellcrank (100) to the stage 3 tie rod assembly (270) with the
bolt (230) and the nut (220) .

(1) Install the VSV Bellcrank Assembly Ref. AMM TASK 72-32-00-400-802.
(2) Make sure that the work area is clean and clear of tools and other items.
