2 Drawer Box Sides ½" x 3-1/2" x 18" (16)

4 Drawer Face 3/4" x 6" x 25-3/4" (2)
1. ASSEMBLE THE SHOP STAND FRAME
Follow the Rock-
Steady Shop
Stand assembly
instructions to build
the shop stand
frame. The frame
is made from four
32" Legs, four 56"
stretchers, four 20"
stretchers and two
Center Supports.
Use a 1/2" wrench or
socket set to tighten
the included 5/16"
nuts on the 5/16"
carriage bolts.
2. CUT THE DRAWER PARTS
Cut the drawer parts to size, using
the Material List, p.2. The drawer
bottom is captured in a 1/4"-
wide x 1/4"-deep groove. Cut the
grooves in all drawer fronts, backs
and sides. In this case the grooves
are cut with a router table that is
set up with a 1/4"-dia. straight
bit. You can also cut these grooves
with a table saw.
3. ASSEMBLE DRAWER
Assemble the drawer box with glue,
clamps and brad nails. The drawer
front and back are captured be-
tween the drawer sides.
4. ATTACH DRAWER MOUNTING BRACKETS
Attach the Drawer/Shelf Mounting
Brackets to the shop stand legs.
Align the bottom Drawer/Shelf
Mounting Bracket with the bottom
two mounting holes in the front
and back legs. Then leave three
empty holes and install the next
bracket. Repeat this process for the
remaining brackets, leaving three
empty holes between each bracket.
See illustration (inset in photo) for
bracket locations.
5. MOUNT CABINET DRAWER SLIDE
Attach the cabinet slide
component to the mount-
ing bracket with the machine
screws and nuts included with
the mounting bracket. The
front of the slide component
should be flush with the front
of the leg.
6. ATTACH DRAWER BOX SLIDE
Attach the drawer box slide
1/2" up from the bottom of the
drawer box. Use a scrap of 1/2"
plywood as a spacer to keep the
height consistent on all drawers.
Position the front edge of the slide
1/4" back from the front face of the
drawer box.
7. INSTALL THE DRAWER BOXES AND ATTACH THE DRAWER FACES
Slide the drawer box slide
componenets into the cabinet
slide components. Attach the
drawer face with #8 x 1" washer
head screws. The drawer faces
extend beyond each side of the
drawer by 3/8".
8. ATTACH TOP TO SHOP STAND FRAME
In this project we installed a 1-1/2"-thick x 24"-deep x 60"-long butcher block top. This size butcher block is available
at some Rockler retail locations. You can also make the top by stacking two pieces of 3/4"-thick plywood or MDF.
Attach the top to the shop stand frame with #8 x 1" washer head screws.
OPTIONAL EXTENSION TOP
Increase your work surface by adding an extension top and the Rockler Rock-Steady Folding Top Extension Kit (53687).
The steel folding hinge brackets can be attached either to the legs (left photo), or attached directly to the overhanging
top material, making it compatible in almost any application. The folding legs lock into place in both the extended
and the folded positions (center photo), and also adjust in height in 1'' increments (right photo). To fold legs or adjust
height, simply depress the large blue paddles.
