Real time prototype vehicle model for the paralyzed people using head moment and

sensor

Abstract
Smart vehicle for paralyzed people play a significant role in supporting disabled people.
Individuals with motor function impairments due to some disorders such as strokes or
multiple sclerosis face frequent moving difficulties. Hence, they need constant support from
an assistant. This project explores the development of a real-time prototype vehicle model
designed to assist individuals with paralysis through head movement and sensor technology.
The proposed system harnesses advanced head-tracking sensors to interpret the user's head
gestures, which are then translated into vehicle control commands, enabling intuitive and
autonomous navigation. The prototype integrates these sensors with a sophisticated control
algorithm to manage vehicle operations, ensuring precise and responsive movement based on
the user’s head movements. The design emphasizes ease of use and adaptability, providing a
practical and innovative mobility solution for people with paralysis. Preliminary evaluations
demonstrate the prototype’s potential to enhance independence and improve quality of life by
offering a more accessible means of personal transportation

Introduction
Paralysis is a medical condition that severely restricts the movement of a person. It typically
happens because of a nervous system injury. Strokes (29%), spinal cord injuries (23%), and
multiple sclerosis (17%) are the leading causes of paralysis. Paralyzed people face many
difficulties. About 16 million people in Bangladesh are paralyzed to some extent. It is a major
challenge to develop a technology that would provide manoeuvring support to a fully
paralyzed person
In the realm of mobility and independence for individuals with physical disabilities,
innovation plays a crucial role in enhancing quality of life. This project focuses on
developing a cutting-edge prototype vehicle model designed specifically for people with
paralysis, utilizing head movement and sensor technology for control.
The primary objective is to create a real-time, user-friendly vehicle that empowers
individuals with mobility impairments by offering an intuitive control system. Traditional
vehicles often rely on manual or foot-operated controls, which may not be feasible for those
with significant physical limitations. Our prototype seeks to address this challenge by
leveraging advanced sensors and head movement detection to enable precise and effortless
navigation.
This vehicle model integrates state-of-the-art technology to detect and interpret head
movements, translating them into commands for vehicle operation. By employing real-time
processing, the system ensures immediate response and adaptability to the user's intentions.
Additionally, the design emphasizes ease of use, safety, and comfort, providing an inclusive
solution that enhances independence and mobility.
The project aims to bridge the gap between technological advancements and practical
application, offering a promising solution for individuals seeking greater autonomy in their
daily lives. Through this prototype, we aspire to set a new standard in assistive technology,
showcasing the potential for innovation to drive meaningful change in accessibility and
personal empowerment.

Problem Statement
Individuals with paralysis often face significant challenges when it comes to mobility and
independence, as conventional vehicles and assistive technologies may not adequately
address their specific needs. Traditional control mechanisms, such as steering wheels, pedals,
or manual levers, are typically inaccessible to those with severe physical impairments. This
limitation restricts their ability to drive or control mobility aids, ultimately impacting their
quality of life and autonomy.
In response to this challenge, there is a pressing need for an innovative solution that enables
individuals with paralysis to operate a vehicle with minimal physical effort. The current
technologies available for controlling mobility aids often fall short in providing real-time,
intuitive, and user-friendly control systems that accommodate a wide range of physical
limitations.
The project aims to address these gaps by developing a real-time prototype vehicle model that
utilizes head movement and sensor technology for control.
