NOTIFICATION
NO. SO (TR-I)2-3/2000. The following draft of the amendments which the Governor
of the Punjab, in pursuance of the provisions of Section 69 of the Provincial Motor
Vehicles Ordinance, 1965 (XIX of 1965) proposes to make in the Motor Vehicles
Rules, 1969, in their application to the Province of the Punjab, is hereby published,
as required by Section 119 of the said Ordinance for the information of the persons
likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft together
with any objections and suggestions with respect thereto, which may be received
by the Secretary to Government of the Punjab, Transport Department, within 15
days of the publication of this notification in the official gazette, shall be taken into
consideration after the expiry of the said period. No objection/suggestion will be
considered after the stipulated period.
AMENDMENT
1. In Rule 54 sub rule (2) of Motor Vehicles Rules, 1969 before colon (:) the
following shall be added:
“for the meeting of Provincial Transport Authority and three
members shall constitute a quorum for the meeting of Regional
Transport Authority”.
2. In heading of Rule 62 of Motor Vehicles Rules, 1969, the following words
shall be added at the end:
“or any of its members”
3. In Rule 62 of Motor Vehicles Rules, 1969, before the words “all or any of its
powers, namely”:--- and in the proviso before the words “as the case may be
shall---” the following words shall be added:
“or any of its members”
4. In Rule 253 sub rule (1) type „C‟, the following shall be substituted:
“C -- Stands, being General Stands, administered by a
Metropolitan Corporation, a Municipal Corporation, a
Municipal Committee or a District Council or through the
agency of a contractor.”
5. In Rule 253-A sub rule (1) clause (a), the following shall be
substituted:
(a) The area of the proposed C Class Stand shall not be
less than:--
(i) 32 Kanals of land in all areas of the Metropolitan
Corporations and Municipal Corporations in the
Punjab except District Lahore;
(ii) 8-Kanals of land in all areas of the Municipal
Committees at the District Headquarters.
(iii) 6 Kanals of land in all areas of all other Municipal
Committees and District Councils in the Punjab; and
(iv) 50 Kanals of Land in all areas of the Metropolitan
Corporation of Lahore.
6. In Rule 253-A sub rule (1) clause (b), the following shall be substituted:
(b) The area of the proposed D Class Stand shall not be
less than:--
(i) 4 Kanals of land in all areas of the Metropolitan
Corporations of the Punjab except District Lahore;
(ii) 4 Kanals of land in all areas of the Municipal
Corporations and Municipal Committees at the
District Headquarters; and
(iii) 2 Kanals of land in all areas of all other Municipal
Committees and District Councils in the Punjab.
(iv) 50 Kanals, 10 Kanals and 06 Kanlas of Land in
different zones as indicated and earmarked by
Regional Transport Authority, Lahore in pursuance of
Rule 253-A (1) (f)”.
7. In Rule 253-A sub rule (2), the following shall be substituted as follows:
(2) Fee for the grant of licence of the C&D Class Stands shall
be as follows:--
C Class Stands:
(i) licence fee for one year in the Metropolitan Corporations
and Municipal Corporations of the Punjab shall be Rs.
1,00,000/-;
(ii) fee for the renewal of such a licence for one year in the
Metropolitan Corporations or the Municipal Corporations
mentioned in clauses (i) shall be Rs. 50,000/-;
(iii) licence fee for one year in all Municipal Committees at the
District Headquarters shall be Rs. 70,000/-;
(iv) fee for the renewal of such licence for one year in all
Municipal Committees mentioned in clause (iii) shall be
Rs. 35,000/-;
(v) licence fee for one year in all other Municipal Committees
and District Councils of the Punjab shall be Rs. 50,000/-;
and
(vi) fee for the renewal of such a licence for one year in all
other Municipal Committees and District Councils of the
Punjab mentioned in clause (v) shall be Rs. 20,000/-.
D Class Stands:
(i) licence fee for one year in the Metropolitan Corporations
and Municipal Corporations of the Punjab shall be Rs.
1,00,000/-.
(ii) fee for the renewal of such a licence for one year in the
Metropolitan Corporations or the Municipal Corporations
mentioned in clause (i) shall be Rs. 50,000/-;
(iii) licence fee for one year in all Municipal Committees at the
Districts Headquarters shall be Rs. 70,000/-;
(iv) fee for the renewal of such a licence for one year in all
Municipal Committees at the Districts Headquarters
mentioned in clause (iii) shall be Rs. 35,000/-;
(v) licence fee for one year in all other Municipal Committees
and District Councils of the Punjab shall be Rs. 50,000/-;
and
(vi) fee for the renewal of such a licence for one year in all
other Municipal Committees and District Councils of the
Punjab mentioned in clause (v) shall be Rs. 20,000/-.
