PROFED 110 - LESSON 5: GLOBAL ISSUES THAT CONCERN SCHOOLS AND SOCIETY

(Exploring the 17 Sustainable Development Goals)

Task:

1. List all seventeen (17) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Choose three (3) SDGs that you
consider to be causes that are close to your heart and mind based on how you and your experiences
resonate with them. Attach/paste clippings of three images/pictures representing each one your
three chosen SDGs. Use the front page of your yellow paper for this first part of the assignment.
2. Write an essay focusing on the three (3) SDGs that are personally relevant and meaningful to you.
The essay has to be at least one whole yellow paper long. Use the back page of your yellow paper for
this second part of the assignment and add more pages if necessary.

Essay Guidelines:

• Introduction:
o Briefly introduce the concept of Sustainable Development Goals.
o Explain why these goals are important for individuals and society as a whole.
o State the three SDGs you've chosen and why they resonate with you personally.
• Body Paragraphs:
o First Chosen SDG:
▪ Describe the specific goal in detail.
▪ Explain how this goal connects to your personal experiences, values, or aspirations.
▪ Discuss potential actions or initiatives you could take to contribute to this goal.
o Second Chosen SDG:
▪ Repeat the same structure as for your first chosen SDG.
o Third Chosen SDG:
▪ Repeat the same structure as for your first chosen SDG.
• Conclusion:
o Summarize the three SDGs you've discussed and why they are important to you.
o Reflect on the potential impact of your actions on achieving these goals.
o Conclude with a call to action or a personal commitment to contribute to sustainable
development.

Additional Tips:

• Research: Gather information about the SDGs you've chosen to deepen your understanding.
• Personal Connection: Be honest and authentic in your reflections.
• Examples: Use specific examples from your life or experiences to illustrate your points.
• Creativity: Feel free to express your ideas in a creative and engaging way.
