THE TESLA COIL
A Tesla coil is a type of resonant transformer ,
named after its inventor,Nikola Tesla ,who
patented it in 1891. The Tesla coil works by
taking a small charge of energy and transforming
it into something extremely poweful via wires.
Copper function as resistors and multiply the
energy supplied by the number of turns that the
secondary coil has.
- Materials for tesla coil
- Base on which to install the components. A
wooden board may be sufficient.
- 9v battery with a connector
- Transistor (2N2222A)
- 22k Ohm resistor
- Switch
- PVC pipe
- Copper wire
- Small ball
- Foil
- Scotch tape
- Cable to connect or solder it
The result can be tested with different bulbs
and LED ,which will illuminate in a variable
way depending oh their size.
