Install - SuperCROSS
These are the instructions for installing just the SuperCROSS client. Alternatively, you can install the SuperSTAR Suite, which installs all the
SuperSTAR applications, including SuperCROSS, as part of a single install process.

The installation process will install some required third party components if they are not already present on your machine. You may be
prompted to restart to complete the third party installation process.

To install your software:

1. If you are upgrading from a previous version of SuperCROSS, you must remove the previous version first. Follow the instructions to remove
the existing version before continuing.

2. Open Windows Explorer and browse to the installation package. This will either be on a DVD that has been supplied to you or a package
that you have downloaded.

If you have downloaded the installation package, then you may need to unzip the files first.

3. Double-click [Link]

4. You may see a User Account Control warning, asking "Do you want to allow the following program to make changes to your
computer?" If you see this message, click Yes.

The splash screen appears, and then the Wizard starts to run.

 5. Click Next on the Welcome screen.

The License Agreement appears.

6. Read the agreement and click Yes.

 The next screen you see depends on whether your install package has been preconfigured with a licence key.

7. If you see the Enter license key screen, enter your licence key and click Next.

The Setup Type screen appears.

8. Select either Complete or Custom.

Complete Or Custom Installation?

The only difference between the installation types is that Complete installs to the default directory locations, while Custom allows you
to choose the location of the SuperCROSS program files and program data files. If you choose a Complete installation, the files will be
installed as follows:

SuperCROSS program file components: C:\Program Files\STR\SuperCROSS

SuperCROSS data file components: C:\ProgramData\STR\SuperCROSS

 9. If you selected a Custom installation, follow the prompts to select the installation locations.

The Ready to Install screen displays.

10. Click Install to begin the installation.

11. Wait for the installation to complete.

12. When the installation completes, leave the check box selected and click Finish to start SuperCROSS.

SuperCROSS set this up so you can deploy a large number of SuperCROSS clients across your organisation.

Install Multiple Instances - SuperCROSS
It is possible to install multiple instances of SuperCROSS on one computer. This is useful when you want to run multiple copies of SuperCROSS in
server mode, or to have different SuperCROSS configurations available.

1. Install the first copy of SuperCROSS by following the standard installation instructions.

2. To install subsequent copies, run the installer again. The installer will detect the existing SuperCROSS instance, and display the following
screen:

3. Choose Install a new instance of this application and click Next.

4. When the Setup Type screen appears, choose the Custom option.

5. When the Select Program Folder option appears, select locations for Program Files and Program Data that are different to the first
installation.

6. Follow the rest of the prompts until the installation is complete.

Silent Install and Uninstall - SuperCROSS
The installation package for SuperCROSS is built with Installshield, which supports "silent" installations.

This feature makes it easy to deploy SuperCROSS throughout your organisation: you simply run the install once, selecting all your preferred
installation options and saving these to an "answer file". You can then package this up and repeat the installation as many times as you need. Your
chosen settings will automatically be applied without you having to select them each time.

Pre-Configure your Licence Key

Silent Install
To perform a silent installation, you first need to create an InstallShield "answer file" ([Link]). This will contain all your required installation
settings.

To create an answer file:

1. Open a Windows Command window.

2. Change to the directory containing the SuperCROSS installer.

3. Run the SuperCROSS installer ([Link]) with the /r ("record") switch, AND the GUID parameter (/ig) as below:

setup /r /f1<responsefile> /ig{21E20379-9554-48A3-9B28-74537FE2755A}

Replace <responsefile> with the name and location of the InstallShield answer file you want to create.

4. Proceed through the installer and complete the installation. The installer will create the answer file and save your responses.

Once you have created your answer file, you can perform an unattended installation by running the SuperCROSS installer with the /s ("silent")
option. For example:

[Link] /s /f1"c:\SX\[Link]" /ig{21E20379-9554-48A3-9B28-74537FE2755A}

You must either copy the [Link] answer file to the same directory as the SuperCROSS [Link] file, or run setup with the /f1 switch to
provide the location of the answer file. The /f1 switch allows you to specify a fully-qualified alternate name for the [Link] file (note that there
must be no space between the /f1 switch and the file name).

The /f1 switch works both with /r to create the file and with /s to read it.

You can use the /f2 switch to specify a logfile for the operation. Once again, there must be no space between the switch and the file name.

Silent Uninstall
To silently uninstall SuperCROSS, record an uninstall answer file, and then run it with the /s and /ig switches. The GUID string must be the same as
the one used for the install:

setup /r /f1<responsefile> /ig{21E20379-9554-48A3-9B28-74537FE2755A}

For example:

[Link] /s /f1"c:\SX\setup_uninstall.iss" /ig{21E20379-9554-48A3-9B28-74537FE2755A}

Pre-Configure your Licence Key

If you record an answer file, then this will capture your SuperCROSS licence key, so users will not need to enter this during the installation.

It is also separately possible to pre-configure the installation package with your SuperCROSS licence key. This can be useful in situations where
you do not want to use a fully silent installation, but you do want an installer that you can provide to users that will not require them to enter the key
during the installation.

To make this change;

1. In the SuperCROSS installation package, browse to the product directory.

 2. Open [Link] in a text editor.

3. Locate the following section:

[Preset]
; Add license key here to preconfigure install. See [Link] file for key
string=

4. Add your key, and then save your changes to the file.

5. You can now provide this installation package to any of your users and they will be able to run the installation without needing to enter the
SuperCROSS licence key.

Uninstall - SuperCROSS
Uninstall SuperCROSS using the standard Windows Remove Programs functionality available from the Control Panel.

Uninstalling SuperCROSS does not completely remove everything that was originally installed:

Any user-configurable SuperCROSS files that you may have amended are retained, in case you wish to reinstall or upgrade SuperCROSS.

The Microsoft .NET 4.0 framework is also retained, as this framework may be used by other applications.
