Life Before Smartphones

Smartphones have changed our lives. We use them all the time. People use them when they
are waiting for something. Many people say we use smartphones too much. We spend less
time with family and friends. They cause anxiety and depression. But, was it better before?
What did we do before smartphones?

Many people cannot remember what they did before because they did nothing. We talked on
the phone, but it was less convenient. We watched television to kill time. We scrolled through
magazines in waiting rooms, airports, and restaurants. We were not interested or learning.
We were bored.

Before, if someone was late coming home, we just stared out the window. Now, we can send
a message. Today, in our free time, we can use our smartphones to do something useful or
fun or connect with others. Before, we did not use our in-between time to develop
friendships or do self-improvement. Mostly, we did nothing.
