combine is so equipped, remove the shelf.

Important!
After removing shelf assembly, observe the
front wall of the elevator directly above where
the shelf was removed. If this is a vertical
plane, the Install Shelf Assembly step is
needed. If this has an approximately 30
degree bend from vertical towards the front of
the combine, then the Install Shelf Assembly
step is not necessary and the part will not fit.

Slow Speed Grain Tank Leveling Auger Bundle 70556

Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of a
70556 Slow Speed Grain Tank Leveling
Auger Bundle. The grain tank leveling auger
bundle replaces the original gear-driven,
enclosed grain tank loading auger that
comes standard in the tank. This new
“open style” leveling auger is larger in
diameter, hydraulically driven, and operates
at a significantly slower speed than the
original auger. It is plumbed and wired to
start and stop with the separator engage
switch.

The Slow Speed Grain Tank Leveling Auger

Bundle has been designed in partnership
with John Deere for use on the John Deere
STS Combine. When installed in the John Specifications
Deere STS Combine, this grain tank The specifications of the grain tank leveling
leveling auger bundle will enhance the auger bundle are as follows:
quality of the threshed bean product and
assist you in maintaining a competitive Auger diameter: 10”
advantage in today's market. Angle of incline: approximately 30 degrees
Operating speed: 110 rpm (original fountain
auger speed: 400 rpm)
Benefits
Because of the slower operating speed,
reduced contact with the auger housing,
and specially designed gear coupler cap,
the open style leveling auger will:

• Reduce bean damage such as “mud

tagging” or “staining” that occurs when
beans come in contact with dirt, mud, or
crushed weed berries coating the
interior of the auger housing.

• Eliminate the splitting and crushing of

beans resulting from contact with the
gear coupler of the original fountain
auger.

• Reduce the possibility of cracked seed

coats in low moisture beans.

Belt Unloading Conveyor Bundle 70558

Introduction
Congratulations on your purchase of an Belt
Unloading Conveyor, Bundle 70558. The
belt unloading conveyor system replaces
the unloading auger that is standard with
the John Deere STS Combine. The system
includes an unloading conveyor, along with
a discharge spout that feeds the belt
conveyor. This system is fully integrated
into the combine, both electrically and
hydraulically, providing the following:

• An electrically operated linear actuator

that closes the spout so the conveyor
can swing to its position in line with the Benefits
machine. The actuator is electrically The Belt Unloading Conveyor provides

Bundle 70558 Belt Unloading Conveyor

Testing Overview
Follow the steps indicated in the testing
procedure beginning on the next page to
ensure that the Belt Unloading Conveyor,
Bundle 70558, has been correctly installed.

If the conveyor system does not function as

described and you cannot determine what is
causing a particular problem, please contact
Amadas Industries through one of the
methods listed on the back of the title page.

Testing the Conveyor System

1. Remove the pin and cotter keeping the
conveyor from swinging. B
2. With parking brake on, engine at idle, and
someone to observe, have operator swing
conveyor partially in and out several times
using unloading auger switch on multi-
functional hydro handle. This will purge
the system of air.

3. Make sure the conveyor contacts the C

conveyor support, #93585 (A), stowing
shelf, and that the hitch pin, #1674 (B), can A
be placed in and out (see photo).

If not, loosen fasteners connecting NOTE! When in the unload position, the

4. Have operator swing conveyor into unload
position.

5. Have helper observe conveyor spout cover B

(A) swinging under rubber-skirted chute
(B). Make sure chute is within the confines A
of the metal conveyor cover once stowed.

If not, look for and correct any obvious

problems.

6. Ensure that limit switch on center pivot
(#93583) is contacting conveyor and has
tripped.

If not, make adjustments.

7. Have operator briefly engage the
unloading button located on the multi-
function hydro handle. If conveyor will only
run when button is depressed, hoses
connecting swing cylinder are reversed.

8. Also, make sure belt movement direction is

away from combine. If not, switch hoses.

9. If hoses were switched, re-test.

Testing the Conveyor System

NOTE! Belt tension and tracking were set and
verified at the factory. Due to shipping and
handling, the belt tension and tracking need to
be checked again once the conveyor is
installed.

10. Check belt tension by standing underneath

the conveyor at about its midpoint and
pushing the belt upward. If little or no
resistance is felt in the first one to two
inches of movement, the belt tension
needs to be increased.
A
To increase tension:

a. Use a ladder to access the threaded

rod adjuster (A) located at the
discharge end of the conveyor.
b. Loosen the jam nuts securing the rod
and turn the rod clockwise.
c. Adjust both sides of the conveyor an
equal amount.
d. Check belt tension again. When
proper tension is achieved, retighten
jam nuts.

11. Check tracking by having operator engage

unloading button (conveyor must be
completely swung out for this to happen).
Observe tracking of belt at both head and
pulley. Conveyor belt should be running
centered to pulleys. Deviation of +/- 1/2" is
allowable limit.

To adjust tracking:

a. Use tracking rod located at outboard

side of tail pulley at lower end of
conveyor.
b. Extend rod to push belt away from that
side and shorten rod to bring closer.
c. If adjustment is not enough to correct,
it may be necessary to use tension
rods at upper end of conveyor.

12. Once conveyor is operating, have the
operator push the unloading switch and
have the helper observe the linear actuator
B
on chute.
Linear actuator
When engaged, the conveyor should start
running and actuator should begin
retracting, allowing crop to flow. If not,
check electrical connection to chute to the
conveyor spout assembly, #S127019.
When fully retracted, part A should contact
limit arm B. If not, adjust as needed.

13. Once verified, engage warning lights and
observe for flashing lights. If not
functioning, correct.

15. Since hydraulic system has been opened,
check oil level in hydraulic reservoir in
engine compartment. Fill as needed.

16. For field operation, hitch pin (#1674) (A)

should be pinned in hole on service
landing.

17. Once everything is verified, have operator
ensure unloading auger control switch is
on. This switch is located in cab on control
panel installed with Bundle 70557.

Testing the Conveyor System

18. Have operator engage the unloading
circuit. Once engaged, it takes
approximately 15 seconds for the spout to
open. Once open, a timer is engaged for
unloading augers. It is factory set for 15
seconds. Once 15 seconds are over, the
unloading auger should engage. If
adjustment is desired, refer to the
instructions in Bundle 70557 and adjust
timer (A) in the relay panel located in the
engine compartment during the installation
of Bundle 70557. A

19. If after 30 seconds, the unloading auger is

not engaged, check electrical connections
and correct as needed.

NOTE! This conveyor was designed to

work with the unloading covers in the
lowest position. If not in position, adjust at
this time - refer to the John Deere's
Operator's Manual.

Additional Control Options

The following options allow you additional
controls for operating the conveyor:

• The auger control switch, put in during

installation, is located left of the arm rest
behind the operator. If the switch is in
the "on" position, the horizontal
unloading auger will automatically start
after the factory set time of 30 seconds.

• If you want to manually control the
