After you have written your lesson plan, confer with your Resource Teacher on how you
can participate/assist in delivering instruction in one of his/her classes. Robert Gagne’s Nine
Events of Instruction will guide you to implement the various steps well.

Retention
Using Robert Gagne’s Nine Events of Instruction, what did you notice in the
following segments of learning:
1. How did the students react to the activities/various elements to arouse their
interest?
Based on my observation, applying motivation activities before introducing the
topic help both students/teachers. In the case of students, it helps them to refresh
their mind and body, also, it brings them happiness and enjoyment in
participating. On the other hand, performing motivational activity help a teacher
on breaking barrier to have open communication to his/her students. In addition,
it helps her/his to prepare to the next part of the discussion.
2. Were the students focused when you were stating the learning objectives at the
beginning of the lesson?
Yes, before call someone to read the learning objectives, I delivered an
instruction that the learning objectives are expected to be attained after the
discussion and I need their hundred percent participation and cooperation.
3. How did the new learnings relate to what they really know?
The new learning of the students relates with what they really know in such a way
that they were able to connect the learning they gathered before to understand
well and absorb the new learning. They discovered that learning is a continuous
process where they need to explore to discover new one.
4. Did you notice some students who needed assistance? What did you do?
Yes, I noticed their situation during formal discussion especially when I am calling
their names to participate but they are hesitant to stand which for me is a symbol
of poor self-confidence, but this situation does not become a hindrance for me to
encourage them to participate. I encourage them to participate say for instance
read the meaning or example of particular topic and after many times of doing it,
they were be able to have the courage.
5. Did the students find difficulty in applying the theories/concepts learned to real
life?
No, the topic I discussed to them is about; Hydrocarbons: Alkanes, so, though the
topic isn’t that familiar, however, they participate actively that’s why they easily
know the topic and have their own thoughts.
6. How did your students react to your feedback?
After delivering my feedback especially on the activities they accomplished well, I
witnessed the happiness on the eyes at my students because they felt that I am
true on what I am saying. They are also thankful to the learnings that I was able
to impart to them and I hoping they will also share to others and apply it real-life.
7. What pieces of evidence can prove that the students had retention of learning?
Evidence of student retention of learning can be demonstrated through various
methods. One effective approach is administering tests or quizzes shortly after
instruction and again after a period of time; high scores on follow-up
assessments indicate better retention of knowledge. Additionally, engaging
students in retrieval practice—where they actively recall information—has been
shown to enhance long-term retention compared to passive review. Encouraging
self-explanation, where students articulate concepts to themselves or others, also
reinforces understanding and retention. Moreover, implementing active learning
techniques, such as group discussions or hands-on activities, significantly
improves retention rates by promoting engagement and interaction with the
material. Finally, longitudinal studies that track student performance over time can
reveal trends in retention, showing that those who regularly review and apply
their knowledge retain information more effectively. Together, these strategies
provide strong evidence of effective learning retention among students.

Overall impression of teaching effectiveness:
Reflecting on my recent demonstration teaching experience, I feel a strong sense of
accomplishment regarding my effectiveness as an educator. One of the most rewarding
aspects was the level of engagement I was able to achieve with my students. By employing
interactive techniques, I encouraged active participation, which made the learning
experience dynamic and enjoyable. It was gratifying to see my students focused and
involved, fostering a sense of community within the classroom. I also took great care in
delivering the content clearly and logically. By structuring the lesson in a way that was easy
to follow, I ensured that students could grasp the material effectively. Outlining objectives at
the beginning and summarizing key points at the end helped reinforce their understanding
and retention. Throughout the demonstration, I made it a priority to be adaptable, responding
to student questions and adjusting my explanations based on their reactions. This
responsiveness created an inclusive atmosphere where students felt comfortable expressing
their thoughts and seeking clarification. The use of visual aids and resources played a
crucial role in enhancing the learning experience. By incorporating props, charts, and
multimedia presentations, I was able to clarify complex concepts and cater to various
learning styles, making the lesson more accessible to all students.
Refl
ect
Having implemented several lessons in your cooperating school under the
supervision of your resource teacher, in what areas of the lesson do you need to improve?
Overall, according to my Resource Teacher, I need to improve in the area of
incorporating or relating to other aspects or subjects. Try to integrate it to more
complex and real life-scenario. Additionally, the modulation of voice should clear and
loud so that all student has clear understanding and maintained focus. Finally,
according to Ma’am Quenie, try to visit every group if there is an group activities, it
provide support for the learners.

Using effective strategies/techniques in delivering my lesson. My teaching
strategies/techniques are effective according to my resource teacher but I want to
explore and discover other strategies which I could apply to my upcoming
