Table 9 shows that there is a relationship between ICT Skills and accounting software
literacy. The researchers found out that there is a connection with (r = 0.115, p < 0.01)
respectively, and concludes that there is a positive very weak significant correlation for ICT
skills. This implies that the independent variables Information, Communication and Technology
(ICT) Skills increases the associated dependent variable accounting software literacy increases.
This suggests that it is important to have high knowledge about information,
communication, and technology, since it is directly associated with their literacy skills. As the
participants know how to do file transfer, the ability to download applications on their gadgets,
used digital technology when doing their tasks, means they have the ability to use and understand
the wide range of technology softwares like Microsoft Excel. This shows that the students were
highly literate using the accounting software, Microsoft Excel.
Hence, the null hypothesis is rejected. The results have supported that hypothesis Ho1 has
a significant relationship between students’ ICT Skills and accounting software literacy. The
results have supported that hypothesis Ho1 has a significant relationship between ICT skills and
accounting software literacy.
Amponsah (2020) supports these finding as he stated the effect of ICT on teaching and
learning in the modern education system. To a greater extent, ICT have influenced the practices
of education and will increase considerably in the future. ICT is an agent of transformation and
that it will continue to be a powerful agent for transformation in the educational sector.
Consistently, ICT should be used in education to enhance teaching and learning. Sharma (2017)
also stated that by using Microsoft Excel, students can enhance their analytical and problem-
solving skills, which can be beneficial in both academic and professional settings. Learning to
track goal progressions and calculate salaries are essential skills that students will encounter and
use in the future. By practicing these skills early in their careers using Microsoft Excel, students
can handle large amounts of data and information easily and accurately. Yamin (2016) conducted
the study about the assessment of ICT skills that have been conducted on a group of
undergraduate students. In this study, the students have been given a questionnaire to state their
perception towards ICT tools and application. Later, they are given a task to be completed in an
hour. The task was aimed to assess students’ actual skill level. The finding shows that most of the
have positive perception towards ICT.
