V. NARRATIVE OF THE
ACTIVITY Sampaguita Elementary School shows genuine support for
the Matatag Basic Education Agenda and in partnership with
the National Literacy Remediation Program (NLRP). I,
Magineth C. Pascual, a grade Three (3) teacher, together
with the 9 volunteered teachers in Different School in Lope
de Vega District voluntarily participated as teacher-facilitator
in the National Literacy Remediation Program for the 2024-
2025 End of the School Year break. The learning camp was
held for three consecutive weeks starting May 19 up to June
6, 2025. The following reports reflect the program’s
execution with the class comprising 1 learner focusing on the
Key Stage 1 Learners.

Week 1: (May 19-23, 2025)

On the 19th day of May,2025 the 10 volunteer teachers and

the district head of the school conducted orientation to the
parents. The orientation occurred with the active
participation and support of the learners’ parents who joined
the program. The first week of the program was full of
eagerness given by the learners to learn. Also, we prepare
our classroom and instructional materials for our classroom
environment.

After understanding the memo given by the DepEd, we

start right away our class and follow the Remediation Activity
Sheets given by the DepEd. We prepared reading materials
and instructional materials, afterward, we conducted our fun
teaching-learning process with the learners.

The sounds of the letter “m”, “a”, and “t” were first
taught to the learners. Short vowel words and letter sounds
were emphasized. The learners are consistent with their
attendance; they show excitement in the class because of
different fun activities. Also, each learner had given
enthusiasm to learn.

Also, for this week, we are ready for various reports to

the monitoring team of our District. They give us suggestions
and recommendations on implementing the remediation

Activity

Week 2: (May 26-30, 2025)

In the learning environment, teachers tell short stories,

engage learners in storytelling, facilitate learning, and give
activities that are suited for their capabilities. Teacher-
facilitators checked and sorted the Learning Activity Sheets
which are also given by the DepEd. Regularly exchanging
insights into students’ progress and noting active
participation of the learners in discussions and other practice
exercises. Our topic reflects in the Check-in Report, it is our
guide if the learner really learns, the learner’s result also
been reported through online submission.

Week 3: (June 2-6,2025)

This week is the final week for us teachers and for the
learner. The learner was excited because the Balik Eskwela
was fast approaching, that’s why they just enjoyed the class
because they already knew the letters, phrases and small
sentences that they didn’t know before. They enjoy that they
have additional knowledge which is the “magic e” that we
also don’t know how to explain before. This training on
Remediation gives us the idea why it has been read that
way.

In my own reflection, this fruitful experience is very

essential for the learners and for teachers. Also, I gained
additional learnings from the Remediation Program. I’m
sincerely thankful for the vacation service credits, certificate
of recognition, and other incentives provided by the DepEd in
appreciation of our extended service. It has been a
rewarding experience contributing to the success of this
year’s National Literacy Remediation Program and I look
forward to more collaborative endeavors with fellow
