Design Brief
Dubbed as the House of Colors, the home is owned by Mr and
Mrs Chamaria who wanted a simple and functional interiors
for his parents and their delightful pet,Rio.
To start with, the 1200 [Link] apartment had beautiful floor to
ceiling windows that bring plenty of light throughout the
[Link] concept was to have functional yet rich spaces, that
would make the space look lighter and brighter.
Starting with the entrance,We used a neutral colour palette
for the Main door, while adding in colours for the living and
dining area, gradually making way to the rooms.A low height
console with a mirror frame above, marks the [Link] one
enters the home, they are welcomed into the living with a
huge Tv wall adorned with Tile and Pu finish unit that has a
simple grooving detail that adds texture to the [Link] wall
opposite to the tv unit is a moulding detail finished in the
same Greece blue, with two light fixtures on either ends that
when lit look like light sabers with a hint of
[Link],the two mustard chairs on either sides of
the grey sofa create a contrast with the blue and sets a style
statement for the living and dining area.
The Dining unit is an extension of the living with ample
storage and elegant mirror shutters in order to make the unit
look less bulky and the space more lively.A rectangular dining
with an onyx top creates a focal point, while seamlessly
merging in,both at the same time.
Exactly opposite to it is the Mandir, which the Chamaria’s
fondly refer to as the “Ram Darbar”. The Ram darbar is an
independent structure with beautiful laser cut doors finished
in antique gold which is replicated by having similar finishes
in the handles throughout.
Linear to the tv unit is a huge grey one sided glass door that
seperates the master and son’s room from the rest of the
[Link] passage leading to the rooms is decorated with
lots of pictures, making it a beautiful wall of memories.
The master bed is a combination of maroon and beige, that
compliment each other very [Link] customized wallpaper
with pastels that goes behind the bed has subtle tones, yet it
becomes the most striking feature of the [Link]
with it,are the semi circular gold and black handles on the
[Link] tv unit extends into a study table with a cozy
lounge chair in maroon, that when paired with the ottoman
doubles up as the corner seating near the huge window that
takes up an entire wall.
The son’s bedroom on the other hand is done in dark shades
of a velvet blue laminate with subtle wooden grains and a
dab of burnt orange in the form of the [Link] brick
textured wall in white balances the act, binding all the
elements [Link] sleek black long handles for the
wardrobe bring a sense of sophistication to the
[Link] to the the belief that dark shades make a
space more compact,we believe this combination really
brings out the personality of the inhabitant of the room.
The parents room, with simple and clean lines is all about
textures and functionality, all while maintaining a core of
[Link] wooden and cream hued laminates give a sense
of warmth and make up the entire furniture with a dollop of
basil green in the form of the headboard and a wallpaper
with beautiful gold accents.
Finally, the house comes with a modest balcony adjoining the
living that houses a bar unit with a small ledge that one can
use to sip over the morning tea,or a glass of wine after a long
day or simply lean over for a breath of fresh air.
Overall, the house makes for an example with striking colors
throughout while still bound together by a feel of comfort
and simplicity.
