Effect of Homework on Students' Academic Performance of selected grade 10 in

Balibago integrated Highschool Extension (S.Y. 2024-2025)

INTRODUCTION

Homework has long been a fundamental aspect of the educational system, serving as an

This study investigate the effects of homework on the academic performance of selected Grade

10 students at Balibago Integrated High School Extension (S.Y. 2024-2025). By analyzing how

different types and amounts of homework influence student learning, this research seeks to

provide insights into effective homework practices that optimize academic success while

maintaining student well-being.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK

According to Zanyar Nathir Ghafar (2024), well-structured time management leads to


improved academic outcomes, reduced stress, and better overall life satisfaction. Time
Management Theory emphasizes the importance of balancing academic workload, leisure, and
personal activities to optimize performance and well-being. This theory supports the idea that
limiting homework to weekdays allows students to allocate time effectively between studying,
rest, family interactions, and extracurricular involvement.

According to Ryan and Deci (2023), Self-Determination Theory suggests that students who feel
skilled, related and independent perform better. The "No Homework Act of 2023" supports this
idea by lowering excessive academic pressure and enabling kids to take part in extracurricular
activities and family time, two things that promote self motivation. Students may adopt a more
positive attitude toward studying and improve their academic performance and general
wellbeing if they feel less overloaded by homework.

academic achievement, this study is crucial. Students will learn productive study habits,

teachers will create relevant assignments, and parents will offer the right kind of support. The

results can be used by lawmakers to draft rules that encourage academic achievement without

burdening students, and by schools to develop fair assignment practices. Additionally, this

research can be expanded upon by future researchers to examine relevant educational issues.

SCOPE AND LIMITATION

This study focuses on determining the effect of homework on the academic performance of

selected Grade 10 students at Balibago Integrated High School Extension.

SIGNIFICANT OF THE STUDY

This study determine the effect of homework in students’ academic performance . The findings

will be beneficial to the following:

Students – This research will help students understand how homework affects their academic

performance. It will also assist them in developing effective study habits and improving their time

management skills.

Teachers – The results of this study will provide teachers with insights into the effect of

homework on students' academic performance. This information may help them adjust the

quantity and type of homework assigned to better support student learning.

Future Researchers – This study can serve as a foundation for future research on the impact
