Introduction
Thisworkwill be held infunctionto aprojectproposed, we will clarify details of your
realization, from our perspective, usingresourcesof expression already mastered.
Many times we have asked ourselves why when practicing a project we do not obtain the
expected results and at other times we easily achieve them with little effort
theobjectiveproposed? This is due to the many factors that influence it, such as by
example in thechemistrythe simple mixture formulas usingmethodsdifferent, the results
they will be different whether or not they are the ones we seek. If we observe the great discoveries, they do not
they were created from one moment to the next, generally the author of it made an effort to seek a goal
specific, for which he made prior arrangementsinvestigations,
and subsequently to each failed result
I look for the problem in order to find the possible solution to the defect. Before we formulate
our project (the development of a shampoo) we had another project (to develop a dye for
hair) and with which we use different preparation methods and various ingredients, but not
we achieved the goal, then we decided to seek help elsewheresources, and then this was generated
new project which we hope to finish with positive experiences.
General objective (of our project)
To prepare a shampoo.
Specific objectives (of our project)
Usematerialsknown chemicals and to discover new ones.
Try different ways of doingmixtures.
Apply the knowledge acquired in class.
Discover variants in theproductlike the smell, colorand texture.
Analyze different changes in differentmodels(hair) and the same product.
Objectives of a shampoo
Shampoo formulations aim to maximize the following qualities:
Easy rinse
Good finish after hair washing
minimal irritation ofskin/eyes
Do not damage the hair
Low toxicity
Good biodegradability
slightly acidic pH, since aenvironmentbasic weakens the hair by breaking the bonds of
keratin disulfide of the hair. This effect is achieved by adding small scales of
various materials, for example, glyceryl distearate (a wax).
History
The term and theservicethey were introduced in Great Britain by Sake Dean Mahomed, a migrant
ofIndia, which opened some 'shampoo' baths known as Mahomed's Indian Vapour Baths
(Mohammed's Steam Baths) in Brighton in 1759. These baths were similar to the baths
Turks, but theclientsthey received an Indian champi treatment (therapeutic massage).
Susserviceseran muy apreciados, y Mahomed recibió el alto honor de ser nombrado "Cirujano
shampoo" for kings George IV and William IV.
In the early days of shampoo, English hairdressers boiled soap inwaterand they added
aromatic herbs to give shine and fragrance to hair. Kasey Hebert was the first manufacturer.
known shampoo, and its origin is still attributed to him. Hebert sold his first shampoo, with the
name of "Shaempoo" on the streets of London.
Originally, soap and shampoo wereproductsvery similar; both contained surfactants,
a type of detergent. Modern shampoo, as it is known today, was introduced
for the first time in the 1930s with 'Drene', the first synthetic shampoo (non-soapy).
From the past to the present, Hindus have used different formulas of shampoos,
using herbs like neem, shikakai or soapnut, henna, bael, brahmi, fenugreek, aloe, serum of
butter, amla, and almond in combination with some aromatic components
howwoodsandalwood, jasmine, turmeric, rose, and musk.
Whatisshampoo?
Shampoo is a hair care product used to clean it.
dirt, the grease formed by the sebaceous glands, skin flakes, and generally particles
pollutants that gradually accumulate in the hair.
When we mix shampoo with water or vinegar, it becomes a surfactant, which
while cleaning the hair andleatheroily, it can remove the sebum that lubricates the base of the hair.
Howdoesitwork?
The shampoo cleans by separating the grease from the hair. The grease is aoilsegregated by the glands
sebaceous, in turn is expelled to the outside through the hair follicles (invaginations in the
dermis). The sebum is easily absorbed by the strands of hair, and forms a film
protector. The fat protects against external damage thestructurehair protein, but it has a
associated cost: the sebum tends to trap dirt, scalp flakes (dandruff), and the
products that are usually added to hair (perfumes, hair gel, gels, etc.). The surfactants of
shampoo separates the grease from the hair, dragging the dirt with it.
Although both soap and shampoo contain surfactants, soap mixes with grease.
with too much affinity, so that if it is used to wash the hair it removes too much sebum. The
shampoo uses more balanced surfactants to avoid removing too much sebum.
The chemical mechanism that makes shampoo work is the same as that of soap. Healthy hair
it has a hydrophobic surface to which they adherelipids, but that repelsthe water. The fat
it is not dragged by the water, so you cannot wash your hair only with water. When you
apply shampoo to damp hair, it is absorbed at the surface between the hair and the sebum. The
Anionic surfactants reduce surface tension and promote the separation of sebum from
hair. Thesubjectlipid (non-polar) is emulsified with shampoo and water, and is carried away in the
clarified.

Materials
Boric acid: it is a chemical compound, slightly acidic. It is used as an antiseptic,
insecticide, it delays the flame and is a precursor to other chemical compounds. It is also used
as a buffering agent for the regulation ofpH. It is also used as an ingredient in many
leaf fertilizers and conservation offoodsI eat seafood even though its use is illegal in the
current affairs.
Formulation of boric acid:
Oxyacids: acid oxide + water.
Genapol in paste at 70% concentration: It is a biodegradable anionic detergent of
typealcoholsulfated natural grease. It is extremely gentle on the skin and has excellent
color and smell characteristics. It has extraordinaryto be ablesparkling wine, even under high conditions
of water hardness andtemperature. It is described as a clear, transparent viscous liquid.
Brilliant. The oxyethylation of alcohol increases solubility and wetting power, properties
that improve the rinsing operation, also solubilize most of the perfume
Distilled water: It is one whose composition is based on the unit of H2O molecules. It is
that from which impurities and ions have been removed bydistillation. Distillation is
amethodout of use for theproductionfrom pure water at an industrial level. This consists of separating
the liquid components of a mixture.
Nipagin: it is a substance used as a reagent forlaboratory, conservator, microbial agent
the intermediary insynthesisfromdrugs. Synonym of: P-hydroxybenzoate of methyl, methylparaben. The
Repeated or prolonged contact with the skin can cause irritations.
Nipasol: In relation to other preservatives; it is more effective than methylparaben, only it
they require 1,000 ppm of propylparaben, while up to 4,000 ppm are used of
methylparaben.
Citric acid: Citric acid is a tricarboxylic organic acid that is present in most
from fruits, especially in citrus fruits like lemon and orange. Its chemical formula is C6H8O7.
Scent essence: Liquid and concentrated extract of a substance, usually aromatic.
Vegetable dye:
Sodium chloride: table salt, or in its mineral form halite, is a chemical compound with the
NaCl formula.

Precautions
Avoid contact with eyes, keep out of reach ofchildren, suspend its use if

Toxicity:
Slightly acidic (boric acid)
Moderately irritating (Genapol)
Repeated or prolonged contact with the skin can cause irritations. It is advisable to avoid the
contact with strong oxidizers.

Feasibility
When making a shampoo, we use ingredients capable of producing approximately 7.5 liters of

Conclusion
By undertaking this project, we delved deeper into the world of chemistry.
analyzing the various changes that occur when mixing different compounds, and generating
results. When developing our shampoo, we open our minds to new ideas and options that
we can use in our future in the field of chemistry.
