In the UT Pool, 15% of seats are reserved for Scheduled Castes and none for Scheduled Tribes. In the General Pool, 15% are reserved for Scheduled Castes and 7.5% for Scheduled Tribes .

The CET is critical for admission, as it determines a candidate's merit for seat allocation. The test comes with minimum qualifying marks (25% for General, 20% for SC/ST/PwD) and follows a merit-based admission process. Admit cards are necessary for test attendance .

Candidates must present original documents, including degree certificates and category certificates, during face-to-face counseling. Colleges verify eligibility, category claims, and subject combinations per university norms .

Ties in CET scores are resolved based on the higher percentage of marks in the lower qualifying degree. If still tied, the older candidate based on age is given preference in the order of merit .

Candidates seeking admission to the B.Ed. programme based on a postgraduate degree must opt for a major subject in which they have obtained their Master's degree .

B.Sc. (Non-Medical) graduates can opt for two teaching subjects: Teaching of Science/Physical Science, Teaching of Mathematics/Computer Science, and one language from English, Hindi, Punjabi, or Sanskrit .

Candidates cannot change their pool choice from UT Pool to General Pool or vice versa after the initial selection at the application stage. This decision must be carefully considered when applying as no retrospective corrections are permitted .

Candidates must indicate their reserved category claim at the application stage, and no changes are allowed later. The reservation policy follows UT Pool and General Pool rules, with certain percentages reserved for Scheduled Castes and Tribes .

Arts graduates may select one subject each from two categories: (a) Teaching of Social Studies/Economics/History/Geography/Political Science/Sociology/Public Administration/Fine Arts/Physical Education/Music/Home Science and (b) Teaching of one language such as English, Punjabi, Hindi, or Sanskrit .

The UT Pool consists of 60% of the total seats and is reserved for students who have studied for at least two years in regular colleges in the Union Territory of Chandigarh. In contrast, the General Pool consists of 40% of the seats for students from outside this region or who have completed education via private/distance modes .
