Course Description
This course is the second in a sequence of three courses which are collectively designed to teach
fundamentals of single and multi variable calculus.

It will start with the introduction of anti-derivative and Riemann sum and connect the two concepts
using the fundamental theorem of calculus. Next, various techniques for performing integration will be
introduced. These techniques will be applied to various scenarios including computing the length, area,
and volume of various curves, surfaces, and solids. The course will finish with an introduction to
sequences and series, developing the concept of convergence for both.

Course Objectives

• Learn the integration theory and various methods for computing the integrals.
• Understand definite/indefinite and proper/improper integrals. Also, understand how they are
related to each other.
• Apply these techniques to compute various quantities including length, areas, and volumes.
• Learn about sequences and series to understand the various properties of functions.

Learning Outcomes

• Students should understand the theory of integration and concepts such as definite/indefinite
and proper/improper integrals.
• Students should be able to recognize quantities that require an integral to compute and
successfully evaluate the relevant integrals.
• Students should be able to use power series in order to deduce various properties of functions.
They should also be able to understand the convergence properties of these series.

Academic Misconduct
Please consult IBA’s Student Handbook, and the rules and policies therein for the information in this
regard. {[Link]
