Chapter 2: Of Regrets, Shadows, and Mischievous Lovers

POV: Payu & Prapai

The silence between messages was deafening. Rain and Sky had cut us off completely—no
calls, no replies, not even a blue tick on the messages we sent. It had been days. The mafia
world might have known us as ruthless Alphas, but right now, we were nothing but two
rejected lovers, nursing hearts bruised by our own mistakes. Prapai sat beside me in the
office, arms folded tightly across his chest, brows furrowed. "They’re at Sky Villa," he finally
muttered. "I used my contacts to confirm." I sighed. "So, what? We just show up? Break in?
Force them to forgive us?" He gave me a deadpan look. "No. We observe. Watch.
Understand. And then grovel." And that’s exactly what we did.

Secretly Watching

Using our mafia resources, we had our men scout the perimeter while we parked across the
villa in a rented black SUV, watching from afar like creepy exes. Rain and Sky were unaware.
Laughing. Cooking together. Taking photos. Teasing each other. They looked free. And we—
well, we were painfully aware of how much we missed them. Watching Rain, my mind
couldn't help but drift back to the unexpected beginning of us.

Flashback: Payu and Rain

It was the paint accident that started it. He'd spilled blue paint on my designer shoes.
Stammered out a hundred apologies. I was pissed. But something about the way he
panicked, the way he kept glancing at the mess, mortified, tugged at something soft in me I
didn’t know I had. Later, I caught him alone near the architecture studio, crying silently,
blaming himself. "Hey," I said gently. "It’s just paint. Don't cry." He looked up at me with
glassy eyes and gave a small smile. "But they were designer." "I’ll buy new ones," I
shrugged. He laughed. It was the first time I saw joy in his expression. And I knew I was in
trouble.

Flashback: Prapai and Sky

He was a storm in human form. Our first meeting was a clash — he was yelling at me during
a college debate, calling me a privileged show-off. I laughed. He hated that. Later, he
confronted me in the parking lot. "I don’t like you." I leaned close. "Then why do you keep
showing up wherever I am, Sky?" He froze. We didn’t kiss that night. We fought. Threw
insults. But three weeks later, he confessed he liked my motorcycle. So I taught him how to
ride it. That’s when I first saw his real smile. And that was my downfall.

Back to the Present

We spent the day trailing them discreetly through the city. Sky flirted with the coffee shop
barista — intentionally. Tossed his hair, bit his straw, and winked. Rain let some Alpha adjust
his hoodie and giggled when the guy complimented his scent. Then, at the arcade, they
really pushed it. Rain yelled across the game room, "Payu would never beat me at this. He
always loses!" Sky smirked, grabbing a huge teddy bear he’d won. "Prapai? He’s too scared
to compete with me. Weak knees and a fragile ego!"

Nightfall — The Jealousy Erupts

They were at an upscale bistro, enjoying dinner, dressed like they knew eyes would follow.
Two other Alphas approached their table. Confident. Charming. Too charming. Rain laughed.
Sky leaned forward as one Alpha whispered something that made his eyes sparkle. My heart
hammered in my chest. "We said we’d wait," I whispered to Prapai. "Let them push the
Alphas away on their own." Prapai exhaled sharply. "I’m trying, but... I can’t."

When I saw one Alpha touch Rain’s wrist and lean in closer, I snapped.

The Confrontation

We stepped forward. I didn’t say anything. I just stood behind Rain and placed my hand on
the back of his chair. Prapai loomed next to Sky, silent but suffocatingly intimidating. The two
flirty Alphas got the message and bolted, pretending they had a call to take. Rain glared at
me. "Stalking us now, Payu?" "I couldn’t just watch someone else touch you." My voice
came out softer than I expected. Sky stood up, fire in his eyes. "We’re not yours anymore."
Those words hit harder than bullets.

Back at Sky Villa

They ignored us the whole walk back. We followed anyway. Tried to talk. Got silence. They
locked the bedroom door. So we slept on the lounge couch, staring at the ceiling, miserable.
POV: Payu (Midnight Thoughts)

He’s just behind that wall. Safe. Breathing. But not mine. I deserve this. All of it. I thought
hiding my mafia life would protect him. Instead, I made him feel like a stranger. If I have to
earn him back by being his servant, his driver, his damn doormat—I will.

POV: Prapai (Watching the Bedroom Door)

Sky always acted tough, but I know him. He cried when I once forgot our weekly ice cream
ritual. He’s pretending. Angry, yes. But hurt more. And that’s on me. I’ll do anything to bring
his walls down. Even if I have to dance in a tutu. From inside, muffled voices: "Did you see
Prapai’s face when I asked him to call me 'Queen Sky' in front of the waiter?" Sky giggled.
Rain laughed. "Or Payu trying to tie my shoelaces in the middle of the mall like a
bodyguard?"

Silence.

Then Rain’s voice, gentler, quieter: "Do you think they really regret it?" Sky didn’t answer.
But I saw his silhouette pause behind the curtain. And so did mine.
