THE PROBLEM AND ITS
BACKGROUND
Introduction
Research is a systematic work which
is taken to increase the knowledge
about human, culture, society and a
problem. Through the researchers, those
knowledge can be used to save a
particular problem or topic through
gathering ideas to make a solution.
According to Kerlinger (1986), research is
conducted to address a particular issue .
This is to be done in a precise and systematic
manner to look for new knowledge , skills,
attitudes, and values, or for the reinterpretation
of existing knowledge, skills, attitudes and
values . Researchers task is to make use of the
existing data to investigate and find results,
analyze whether this newly gathered facts are
also true to other environment.
Research is a long-term process, that’s
why researchers must be cautious.
They must exert effort and plenty of
time to complete each stage of the
activity they must be conscientious
and need at a certain number of hour
even week.
Sometimes they need to add some hours
or weeks before the scheduled deadline
because there are some things that take
more time than what the researchers
expect. The problem is that this
difficulties the researchers encountered
can lead them to have low grades or
worse will cause them to fail. (Trimmer,
1991).
One of the problems the researchers
might encounter is the personal
problems. According to Logan(2010),
anytime personal problems occur it
could lessen the cognitive capacity and
interfere academic pursuits. Occasionally,
the best solution to a problem depends
on what causes it, in which one has to
discover why the problems arises but in
most cases, the best approach is simply
to deal with the problems.
According to Hudson Maxim(2011) , all
progress is born of inquiry. Doubt is often
better than overconfidence, for it leads to
inquiry and inquiry leads to investigation.
Research in calculates scientific and inductive
thinking and it promotes the development of
logical habits of thinking and organization. It
provides the basic for neatly all government
policies in our economic system and that’s
what makes research very important.
The researchers are conducting this study,
because the researchers themselves
have experience difficulties in writing their
research paper and aiming to find solution
on how to surpass those challenges . This
will also help the future student researchers
to identify the common research difficulties
that occurs during research so that they will
be able to establish proper ways to
survive and provide certain solutions.
Statement of the Problem
This study aim to determine the difficulties
encountered by student researchers and its
effect to their research output .

despite of the difficulties they have
encountered?
Scope and Delimitation
This study focuses on the difficulties
encountered by the students researchers and
its effect to their research output.
The respondents of the study will be the
Grade 12 students of Caluluan High School
during the school year 2019-2020 which will
be limited to sixty four (64) students.
The total number of the respondents was
calculated through the use of slovin’s
formula.
The researchers chose the grade 12 students
to be their respondents because they have
already experienced some problems
regarding their research during their first
year as a senior high school students
And they are currently conducting a research
paper/study this semester.
The sixty four respondents will be chosen
through the use of simple random sampling.
Significance of the study
This study will benefit the following
groups or individuals:
To the Students. That the students will be
able to know the difficulties that they
encounter and be able to establish steps on
how to overcome this difficulties.
To the Teachers. They will be aware about
the difficulties being encountered by the
Grade 12 students of Caluluan High School in
making a research paper and probably help
them to make things easier for the students.
To the Parents. That they will be able to
know the challenges their childrens are
facing. This study will help them understand
why their children sometimes go home late
so they could give encouragement and
financial support.
To the Future Researcher. This study will
help them to gain more information
regarding the topic and may serve as their
guide in completing their research.
