What is Bluetooth?
Bluetooth is wireless technology standard for
exchanging data over short range(using radio
waves),creating personal area networks (LANs).
It connects several devices like , mobile phones ,
computers , and other electronic devices.
Ad hoc Network/temporary network.
Half duplex device.
Why it is called Bluetooth
The Ericsson website states that the technology is
named after Harald Blaatand , the king of Denmark
between 940 and 981,who promoted communication
between DENMARK AND NORWAY.
Blaatand translates to Bluetooth in English.
“Blaa”modern Danish word for “Blue”and “Tan”(great
man) is Danish word for “tooth”.
Why it is called Bluetooth
That’s why it is called Bluetooth.
The idea of this name was proposed by Jim kardach
in 1997.
Bluetooth History:
In Sep 1998 the original group of promoter
companies-Ericsson , intel , Nokia , toshiba and IBM
came togather to form the Bluetooth special interest
group(SIG).
Bluetooth History:
Bluetooth SIG was founded with the aim using short
range wireless communication technology to transmit
data over a personel area network.
Bluetooth History:
1999:the Bluetooth 1.0 specification is released.
2000:First Bluetooth mobile phone.
First Bluetooth PC card.
First Bluetooth headset.
2001:First Bluetooth printer.
First Bluetooth laptop.
2002:First GPS receiver.
2003:First MP3 player.
Bluetooth History:
2005:First Bluetooth sunglasses.
2006:First Bluetooth watch.
First Bluetooth alarm-clock radio.
How Bluetooth Works:
Bluetooth transmit information through low-power
radio [Link] communicates on a frequency of about
2.45 gigahertz.
How Bluetooth Works:
Bluetooth sends out very weak signals that are about 1
milliwatt in power.
Bluetooth doesn’t need a clear line of sight to
communicate with other devices.
The Bluetooth signals won’t be blocked by the walls in
your house ,it is ideal choice of communication
between devices in your house.
How Bluetooth Works:
Bluetooth system create a personal-area
network(PAN),or Piconet . This Piconet could have an
area the size of a house or one as small as from your
phone to headset . Once this Piconet is created , all of
the devices will connect rapidly , to avoid other
Piconets that may be operating in the same room.
Pairing:
Two devices need to be paired once to communicate
with each other . Pairing usually takes place
automatically once a device receives a request from
another device that it is not yet paired with . Once a
pairing has been established , it is remembered by the
device . The pairing relationship can later be removed
by the user.
