About

Hi, I'm Tharindu 👋, a Graduate Research Assistant at University of Moratuwa University of Moratuwa. I work on RL-based control for wheelchair robots, path planning for reconfigurable robots, and AR for robot navigation.

I'm pursuing my M.Sc. (Major Component of Research) at UoM, focusing on electric wheelchairs with non-configurable caster wheels, covering prototype design, dynamics characterisation, and RL with residual networks for trajectory correction via sim-to-real transfer. I hold a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Electrical Engineering (GPA 3.56, Dean's List, 2nd Semester SGPA 3.97).

I have 3 peer-reviewed publications (1 IEEE published at MERCon 2024, 2 accepted and pending IEEE Xplore from ICIPRoB 2026), including the 🏆 Best Poster Award at ICIPRoB 2026 for my wheelchair dynamics work. I also co-founded Crytec Labs, interned at GoTradie (Sydney) as a Software Engineer, and have taught Gazebo robotics simulation and research writing at UoM, and React.js at MIHA Institute.
