Sell through Ingram in 4 simple steps

Step 1

Create your book

Design your paperback or hardcover book with one of Blurb's free creative tools—or upload a print-ready PDF. Before you go live, we highly recommend ordering a proof copy to check for layout, color, and copy issues that are easier to catch in print.
Step 2

Create your book listing

Head to your Blurb Dashboard and click "Sell my book." Add your author info, upload a preview, and write a description that tells readers what makes your book shine. Then under the Sales Channel & Profit tab, choose Global Retail Network as your distribution option.
Step 3

Set your list price

You're in control. Set your list price, decide your wholesale discount, and see how much you'll earn per sale. Ingram doesn't charge any upfront fees—they just share a portion of your list price with retailers (a bigger discount can help your book get noticed).
Step 4

Promote your book

Shout about it! Share your retailer listing on social, embed a preview into your site or newsletter, and start building your audience around the world.

You'll get paid at the end of each month, 90 days after a sale, once you reach the minimum payment threshold. Choose to be paid by check or PayPal—it's up to you.

Have a question? Here are answers.

What is Ingram's global distribution network?

Ingram's global distribution network plugs you into one of the publishing industry's largest global book distribution networks, making your book discoverable by over 45,000 independent bookstores, online stores, chain stores, libraries and universities.

What type of Blurb books can I sell through Ingram?

You can sell any paperback or hardcover book through Ingram. This classic book format is ideal for Ingram distribution as the lower print cost per page means a higher profit margin for you. Versatile and affordable, they're the perfect format for novels, memoirs, poetry, children's books, nonfiction books, and more.

Do I need an ISBN (International Standard Book Number) to sell my book through Ingram?

Yes. ISBNs are automatically added to any paperback or hardcover book made with Blurb and cannot be omitted.

How do I calculate the price of my book for Ingram's global distribution network?

Your list price will depend on the cost to print your book, your desired profit level and the wholesale discount you offer to retailers. You can use Ingram's Compensation Calculator to work out your potential profit.

How do I get paid from sales made through Ingram's distribution network?

Payments are made at the end of each month, 90 days after a sale, when you reach the minimum payment threshold.

Can I change the price, title, description or metadata for my book once it's been listed for sale through Ingram's global distribution network?

You can change your book's description and price through your Blurb dashboard and those changes will be reflected within Ingram's network. The only details you can't change are the book title and the ISBN. To change your book's title you will need to edit and reupload your project in your chosen design tool.

What happens if I remove my paperback or hardcover book from distribution?

When you make your Blurb book available via Ingram's global distribution network, any retailer that chooses to list it (Amazon, Barnes and Noble, etc) will create a product listing for your book on their site. This listing allows people to find and buy your book through that website.

If you later remove the book from distribution retailers cannot order additional, newly-printed copies. But the retailer's listing may remain on their site indefinitely even if the book was never ordered. A retailer may have also already purchased a stock of books and removing a book from distribution does not remove books from a retailer's warehouse. This means that even if you take your book out of distribution, your book listing may remain on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, and other online retail sites. There is no easy way to remove your book listings from the internet so be sure to only set up the final version of your book for sale.
