Talk:Tado
Add topicAnother great story about Tado
[edit source]I need to share my experiences I had last month regarding Tado. I was a user of an original Tado thermostat I purchased 7 years ago. This year when the time had come with the first cold days of the Year, I tried to swith on my heating. But Tado was not working. I changed multiple times the batteries with fresh ones, but no avail. The thermostat showed no temperature but --.-- and the touch buttons for up/down did not respond anymore, rendering the thermostat useless. At that moment I thought kiddingly ok they just killed the device remotely (litle did I know that this is what probably happened for real). I contacted the support and after insisting to get real support in the awful bot chat at tado, I got an e-mail that stated to send them a ton of photos with different batteries inserted and a video showing the non-resposive touch screen. I found this very odd to ask from a customer. As I saw this will be an oneway path, I decided to purchase the new Tado X. Surprise, surprise I got after a few days of purchase an e-mail stating a discount for all the AI features of Tado. Wtf, I did not know that they started charging for them now - I was using them 7 years for free... After I received the new tado X Thermostat I tried to install it in my existing account, but I would not allow the new device to be added stating it is not compatible with the old hardware. OK I said fair enough, I tried to remove the old devices but the link "Remove Device" was magically missing! Starting to smell something fishy? After a lot of digging, I saw that only "Delete Home" would allow me to add the new tado x to my account. Well, isn't it a sneaky way to force YOU to delete the home yourself and then to be forced to pay subscription for stuff that you used 7 years for free... Needless to say that this is the last tado I will ever purchase.
Do you believe in time-bombs now or not? 62.103.79.5 14:26, 8 January 2026 (UTC)
