Also some of the variables are in fact more complex than what is presented. For example technique is not just a single threshold on the minimum speed for ‘allowing’ a bounce, there are in fact 2 thresholds, one that says ‘if speed above X, then always bounce’ (proba_bounce:1) and a second one (lower) that says ‘if speed below Y, end the ricochet’(proba_bounce:0). In between these thresholds I interpolate the probability depending on current speed. The stones quality is even more complex: stones have values for each of the existing parameters (speed_bonus, control_bonus, spin_bonus…), and these value are between 1-2 (rank F) and >500 (rank S+). Each of these values increase slightly one of the parameter of the throw, for instance if I remember correctly a stone with >500 spin_bonus will have +10% to the current spin value… So… (And the type of stone found will also have a bonus in one of the characteristic by default).
Coming back to see if I still had the WR and I clearly am far from it. I tried the same thing but your script is cleaner and for obvious reason better than what I've done. Gratz on the current WR!
Also for anyone that wants to run, a WR run needs a lot of luck. For example: you can get up to 2 upgrade on the first rock if you're lucky enough
I tried for so long and only ended up with a highscore of 7:23. I wonder what the best starting upgrades are, and which ones are not worth it until the end?
People are better than me at my own game, so take this with a grain of salt, but you can look at the screenshot for some hints about the most important upgrades (at least early game) in my opinion…
Your score per stone depends on the number of bounces, and at some point, you end up on the other side with a lot of speed remaining. It means you are missing some points, so control can help you make more bounces in the limited distance…
That was unexpected… It is a typical Japanese ranking, which is commonly used by plenty of games, but I see your point. I had up to SSS at some point when developing the game, so it was less of a problem. I patched it.
You shouldn't give in to things like that and validate the delusion There will always be people saying it, no matter how tiny a portion of the population - eg it's not reflective of the majority or even a notable minority of the audience
A very fun game, i like the idea and the execution, it's very cozy and chill with minimal graphic and sounds. A little feedback ; it's would be cooler if the hair color randomized with subtle touch. 12:08. Thank you for making this chill and cozy game.

I got 9:43 but in hindsight I think deviation is probably good because it means you can go further. The second run I skipped precision and did a few other tweaks and got 7:03.
I actually don’t know ^^’ Precision will reduce the distance meter because of the deviation, so one of the multiplicative factor will be reduced, but that may not be a problem indeed, I don’t know…
It's interesting that you can almost over upgrade, where the guys get so good at throwing that the stones make it to the other shore without using all of thier potential bounces, thus causing you to lose points...
Exactly! And the opposite is also true, you can also become too good at making small bounces, which means the distance will reduce too much, and it can reduce your points early game as well.. Balance is hard to find!
Satisfying little game. My biggest complaint is that when zooming out the upgrades also get smaller. I wanna see the stones but then i can barely see what i'm upgrading.

Yes I really wanted to have the upgrades anchored in the world, but it forces you to zoom in to see what you’re upgrading.. I considered a solution for that but it was too long to implement (and I had to come back to my long term project!!)

I reached 1 million points for 12:58. The game kinda fun and chill but for first minute I didnt understand what I needed to do cause the strength perk button has a very similar color to the water near by.

I wrote a Script to try and compute the optimal upgrade path. (I had to change it quite a bit to get this WR though)

Is cooldown random between 0 and the level that you have? It seems inconsistant.
Not from 0, but there is a slight 10% variation around your current cooldown value

This is a fun game! What actually determines the score of each stone? Is it a combination of distance, speed and number of skips?
Thank you! It’s just (distance × number_of_skips) indeed. This is why distance is capped at 50 while max nb skips can go way beyond
Best I was about to get was 7:00. Not sure how people are doing it so fast. I went and tested each stat at max level in isolation.
