Welcome to Ekklesia, the Online Classics and Ancient History Magazine.

The idea for Ekklesia came from our Lead Editor, Tom Hilless, who, after graduating from Exeter with an MA in Classics and Ancient History at the end of 2022, realised he could not quite let his studies go. Our team was first built from a group of close friends who met on the MA course at Exeter, united by a love of our subject area and a belief that it should be accessible to all.

The team has grown over the years, but our core principles have remained the same. We love Classics and Ancient History and believe that anyone should be able to engage with it, whether through reading, writing, or creative projects. This is why we created Ekklesia: as a shared online space where anyone is welcome to submit work, and where reading will always be free.
