We have turned off our ask box because Tumblr’s ask system doesn’t work very well for our needs. The lack of any sort of records of what messages we’ve received or how we responded to them makes it nearly unusable for us; even xkit’s outbox system doesn’t work because a message is only saved for the mod who responded to it. Plus, asks sometimes don’t even go through. Email is more reliable and allows us to keep a record of our communications so that everyone on the mod team knows what is happening.
