joedermody The Time We Share is a classic. And the other songs stand up very well next to it. A really beautiful collection of songs, beautifully recorded in a way that does justice to the songwriting talent and the passion for performance. This has a gorgeous live feel to it. Anyone who has enjoyed the recordings of Mark Knopfler of recent years and all fans of Ron Sexsmith will love this brilliant Hank Wedel album. Everyone involved must be elated. Favorite track: The Time We Share.

Poe Park 2AM (Wedel) IMRO Verse 1 Feeling' The Heatbeat of The City sittin' down on Poe's front porch Chillin' out the pulse of the city, yeah hopin' that Poe would pass the torch but the caretaker growled and away we did crawl Under the gate with my guitar and all... Verse 2 Strollin' down The Concourse she had her shoes in her hand Strollin' down The Grand Concourse I could not understand why The Caretaker growled and away we did run. All we were doin' was havin some havin some fun... Instrumental Break Bridge: You know The Bronx is so battered So bloodshot So torn But Poe Park can be mellow at 2 .... in the morn! Verse 3: Feeling' The Heatbeat of The City sittin' down on Edgar Allen Poe's front porch Chillin' out the pulse of old New York City, yeah... Hopin' that Poe would pass the torch but the caretaker growled (get outta here!) and away we did fly... FLY...HIGH!

The Time We Share (Wedel-Carroll-O’Snodaigh) IMRO Well, it’s great to see ya ‘cos we heard you were dead You came back to life You got out of your bed It’s great to see ya or is that your ghost? We heard ya left us Burnt toast I whisper nothing sing softly on your ear try not to cut short the evening that’s here Shallow as it might be The moment is clear I couldn’t want anything more It’s All About The Time We Share Well it’s great to see ya Are ya gonna stay? Are you here for the dark night? Are you leaving at the break of day? It’s great to see ya Yes, it’s true It’s great to see ya It’s great to be near you It’s All About The Time We Share

Alright! Dynamite! Spiro! Wedel (IMRO) Alright! Dynamite! Spiro! They can't evict you now Alright! Dynamite! Spiro! No matter how they try, no how Cos you're gone in the mourning and you wont be back tonight Gone without a warning They can try with all their might Cos you left them in the dirt They can't see you fore the dust They can go and call the cops but they'll never get the bust No matter how they try No matter who they call They will never catch you and you will never fall!

about

“What Happens in Cork, Stays in Cork"
There’s a few reasons I decided give this name
to this collection of songs…
Firstly, I find myself explaining
nightly events in Cork City with
"It's what happens in Cork..."
Over the years, in conversation
about Cork City and County, I’ve heard it said:
“If you love Cork,
it has a way of keeping you…”
and
“If you marry a Corkwoman,
you’ll end up living there…”
and
“Cork City is the only city in Ireland
that hasn’t forgotten what it is”
None of these would make good album titles but,
in conversation with my eldest son Ruairi,
discussing the carry on of musician friends of mine
visiting Cork over the past few decades since the 1980s,
he refashioned the old saying about Las Vegas…
I thought it would make a good title for a podcast about
my experience of the Cork music scene
and to spotlight this collection of songs,
but what really seals the deal is Murphy Kie’s
wonderful image of me hamming it up with
the soldier statues at Elizabeth Fort, Cork City
Since it was taken, it often gets used to promote
my gigs and shows...

I began recording this collection of songs with Declan Sinnott
At his place in The Hills of Bandon, Co. Cork
in between and around, the global lockdowns of 2020
and finishing up onward into 2023…
There are other people performing with me on this collection
but Declan is responsible for most of the sounds
and all of the production, mixing and mastering of the album.
It really was a most enjoyable experience because Declan is
one of the most enthusiastic and talented musicians
I’ve ever known and worked with...
