Hello! I'm Ayanna, and I work as a K-5 Program Developer for a non-profit organization. I also coach the literacy cohort for NBPTS candidates in the Wake County Public School System. Fun fact: WCPSS leads the nation in the number of NBPTS-certified teachers. (Talk about pressure 😅) My area of certification is EMC Literacy. I am a licensed reading specialist (K-12) with a Master's in Reading Education. I love pouring into other educators and watching them experience success. When I am not developing literacy programs or coaching groups, I am also a part-time doctoral student at the University of Central Arkansas. 🤓
What sets me apart from other coaches/services?
Great question! I set myself apart from other master coaches in the following ways:
This is not just a series of pre-recorded videos. My group and individual sessions are conducted live. I am right there to walk you through the exercise(s) and answer questions as they arise.
I took C1, TWICE. Yep. You read that right. I did not certify initially, with an overall score of 109. Although I already had very good scores in C1, I knew that 2021 was not the year I wanted to retake C2, 3, or 4. I learned some great strategies, retook C1, and certified! Let me share those tips and techniques with you!
I, too, was a pandemic-era teacher. I know that kids, curriculums, and approaches have changed. I take this into account as we work together.
As far as I know, I am the only coach who focuses solely on component 1. It doesn’t get the attention it deserves, but at 40% of your total score – it should.
While I am no miracle worker in any way, shape, or form, I do promise to provide you with materials that will leave you feeling both informed and confident about component 1.
