FrEAK, the Free Evolutionary Algorithm Kit, is a toolkit to design and analyze evolutionary algorithms, written in Java.

TextMarker is now developed and hosted at Apache UIMA (http://uima.apache.org/textmarker.html). TextMarker is a UIMA-based tool for information extraction and more. The full featured editor of the rule language and the build process of UIMA descriptors are complemented with components for visualization, explanation, testing and rule learning.

The program puts beats through evolution - survival, mutations, reproduction. The purpose, in the words of Africa Bambaataa - Looking for the perfect beat. Using a genetic­ algorithmic framework, the user's taste defines a Beat fitness function - she decides which beats survive and breed, and which join the choir invisible. In addition, the user can easily define an automatic fitness function, put the program on 'auto­pilot' mode, and let it speed up evolution. Different types of mutations (including inactive genes, changing instruments, and more) occur randomly (or at the user's control), and the user can add her own beats to the population. The program was written by Nir Rosenfeld and Assaf Michaely.

The files contained in this distribution implement a computer vision system for the classification and interpretation of flag semaphore signals. Optionally, the message can be used to send and receive TCP/IP packets using the RFC 4824 protocol.

Some of the usual problems for Learning vector quantization (LVQ) based methods are that one cannot optimally guess about the number of prototypes required for initialization for multimodal data structures i.e.these algorithms are very sensitive to initialization of prototypes and one has to pre define the optimal number of prototypes before running the algorithm. If a prototype, for some reasons, is ‘outside’ the cluster which it should represent and if there are points of a different categories in between, then the other points act as a barrier and the prototype will not find its optimum position during training. Since the model complexity is not known in many cases, we avoid this problem by introducing a "Dynamic" version of LVQ. Dynamic-GRLVQ (DGRLVQ), which adapts the model complexity to the given problem during training by adding or removing prototypes dynamically/realtime one by one for each category until satisfactory classification results are achieved.

The DragonBreath Engine is a constraint solver based on local search. It features real-time computation, handling of dynamics, structural constraint satisfaction, and an easy way to include domain-specific knowledge.

The Text Annotation Environment (tae) can be used to annotate natural language text manually or automatically (UIMA Annotator) with meta information (tokens, part-of-speech, named entities, ...). Tae is based on Eclipse and IBM's UIMA.
