    SuperTest

    SuperTest

Super-agent driven library for testing node.js HTTP servers

A super-agent driven library for testing node.js HTTP servers using a fluent API. The motivation with this module is to provide a high-level abstraction for testing HTTP, while still allowing you to drop down to the lower-level API provided by superagent. Install SuperTest as an npm module and save it to your package.json file as a development dependency. You may pass an http.Server, or a Function to request(), if the server is not already listening for connections then it is bound to an ephemeral port for you so there is no need to keep track of ports. One thing to note, is that superagent now sends any HTTP error (anything other than a 2XX response code) to the callback as the first argument if you do not add a status code expect (i.e. .expect(302)). Expectations are run in the order of definition. This characteristic can be used to modify the response body or headers before executing an assertion.

    Jasmine

    Jasmine

    A JavaScript Testing Framework

Jasmine is a behavior-driven JavaScript development framework for running both browser and Node.js tests. It’s been tested to work on most versions of popular browsers including Safari, Chrome, Firefox, and Internet Explorer. Jasmine does not rely on any other JavaScript frameworks, browsers or DOM, making it suitable for websites, Node.js projects, or just about anywhere that JavaScript can run. Jasmine has everything you need out of the box to test your code, yet retains a low overhead and absolutely no external dependencies. This means, of course, that it is fast. It has a clean, obvious syntax that makes writing tests a breeze.

    Jest Puppeteer

    Jest Puppeteer

Run your tests using Jest & Puppeteer

Most continuous integration platforms limit the number of threads one can use. If you have more than one test suite running puppeteer chances are that your test will timeout. This is because jest will try to run puppeteer in parallel and the CI platform won't be able to handle all the parallel jobs in time. A fix to this is to run your test serially when in a CI environment. Users have discovered that running test serially in such environments can render up to 50% of performance gains. Writing integration test can be done using Puppeteer API but it can be complicated and hard because API is not designed for testing. Debugging tests can be hard sometimes and it is very useful to be able to pause tests in order to inspect the browser. Jest Puppeteer exposes a method jestPuppeteer.debug() that suspends test execution and gives you the opportunity to see what's going on in the browser.

    CSS Critic

    CSS Critic

    Lightweight CSS regression testing

A lightweight tool for regression testing of Cascading Style Sheets. Your web stack should be fully testable. CSS Critic closes the gap in front-end testing and makes HTML & CSS testable - no more broken UI. For example, make it supervise changes to your project's responsive style guide so you know things are looking good. We believe that your UI will change often enough that a lightweight process on managing changes (near instant feedback, anyone?) is more important than a heavy-weight one which could offer tighter control. Also, CSS Critic aims at bridging the gap between user experience (UX) people and (UI) developers. You probably won't find an easier way of sharing your UI tests than the simple web page that CSS Critic basically is. And don't feel put down by the "CSS" bit, you may throw anything at it that can be converted into a simple image.

Use the Playwright API in TypeScript, JavaScript, Python, .NET, Java. Test Mobile Web. Native mobile emulation of Google Chrome for Android and Mobile Safari. The same rendering engine works on your Desktop and in the Cloud. Auto-wait. Playwright waits for elements to be actionable prior to performing actions. It also has a rich set of introspection events. The combination of the two eliminates the need for artificial timeouts - the primary cause of flaky tests.

    phantomas

    phantomas

Headless Chromium-based web performance metrics collector

Headless Chromium-based modular web performance metrics collector. Modular approach, each metric is generated by a separate "module". phantomas "core" acts as an events emitter that each module can hook into. In-depth metrics such as: number of events bound via jQuery, calls to window.writeor complex and duplicated CSS selectors (via analyze-css). JSON as an output format. Easy integration with other nodejs projects via CommonJS module (see API docs). Metrics can be emitted from the JavaScript code of the page phantomas is run against (thanks to helper functions available in window.__phantomas). Argus Eyes

    Argus Eyes

A lightweight commandline tool for visual regression testing of UI

A lightweight command line tool for visual regression testing of UI components. After installing, you want to tell argus eyes which pages and which components to check for visual regression. Argus eyes work by going over a straightforward JSON file containing the resolutions you want to capture, as well as the pages with theirs url's, and the components with their CSS-selectors. Once argus eyes know where to find the components, it's time for some command line action. The first command you want to use is $ argus-eyes capture master. This makes argus eyes go over the config file and take screenshots of all specified components in there. The screenshots are saved in .argus-eyes/master and this set of screenshots can be compared with another set.
