First of all, essential oils aren’t a cure for everything. And if someone tells you they are, well - maybe find another source.

There is absolutely something to be said though about using essential oils as part of your overall wellness and prevention.

Making prevention a priority over treatment. That’s the key here.

You can use essential oils to:

  • Support the main systems of your body. Your emotions, your hormones, You’re energy, your gut, your brain – all of it.
  • Clean up your personal care with safer ingredients.
  • Clean your home and enjoy respiratory benefits from the smell instead of inhaling potentially hazardous chemicals.
  • Replace synthetic air fresheners and scented candles
  • Freshen your laundry and linens.
  • A more restful night of sleep for you or your babies.
  • Support your pets! Young Living even has an entire line for pets.
  • Bake, cook or mix delicious drinks or flavored syrups.

If you’ve ever bought a product that said it smells like lavender or lemon or rosemary – chances are that’s a synthetic fragrance trying to mimic the real lavender, lemon or rosemary.

When you get an essential oil, you get the actual plant itself. There are no chemical processes involved if it’s a true, pure essential oil.

  • Essential oils are highly-concentrated compounds extracted from plants through steam distilling, cold-pressing or resin-tapping.
  • The oils capture the plant's smell AND therapeutic properties!
  • These oils go through several tests once distilled to make sure that they're 100% pure and all the compounds are intact.

Essential oils are made up of minute molecules that are very easily absorbed. Each oil has a unique chemical composition of terpenes, esters, oxides, alcohols, phenols, ketones and aldehydes. These components interact with your body systems, and depending on the essential oil, they support various systems of the body.

Your body has an electrical frequency - as do essential oils. In fact, every oil has its OWN frequency. When your body is having issues in some area, it's a frequency problem.

When you apply an essential oil to your skin, it is absorbed (us + oils are fat soluble), and enters the blood stream. Once it's inside your body, it's frequency steps into the part you are lacking and supports your body! What's better is PREVENTION instead of REACTION.

Three ways to get them into your body:

1. DIFFUSING/AROMATHERAPY

When you smell an essential oil, cilia and receptor cells in the olfactory organ receive the aroma and send signals to the limbic system of the brain, which is the center of memory and emotion. It also is connected to areas of the brain that controls things like blood pressure, breathing, hormones and more.

When you DIFFUSE an oil into the air, the molecules are broken down into micro molecules so small that they pass the blood brain barrier and begin to work in seconds.

2. ON YOUR SKIN

Essential oils can be applied to the skin to be absorbed into the blood stream. We typically apply oils to the bottoms of our feet, wrists, neck or even face if using it in skincare. You can apply oils neat or dilute the oil with a fatty oil like coconut oil or jojoba oil – also known as a carrier oil!

3. AS A DIETARY SUPPLEMENT

* PLEASE only ingest pure oils. Young Living works with the FDA requirements on a line of oils that are safe to ingest. *

Less is more! I add a drop of lemon to my water and drink out of that glass all day. I add peppermint to my water or digize to a veggie capsule if I need some digestion support. I put frankincense in a veggie capsule and take that like a supplement to boost my immune system. These oils are highly concentrated, so you only need a small amount to make a big impact!

Research and resources – and then you try for yourself to see what works best for you!

Sometimes what works for one person diffused will work better for another person when applied topically.
