Alpha Protocol, an action spy RPG developed by Obsidian Entertainment, was released by Sega in North America and Europe in 2010. For unknown reasons, the game did not receive a dedicated release in Japanese markets. Some speculate that the game's violent content prevented it from receiving a CERO rating.
Although Alpha Protocol did not receive a sequel, its ambitious—albeit flawed—execution earned the game cult status.
