Day 4 - Tuesday, October 20th 2015

Reflection
I went to the school at 6:30am, the students started coming at around 7am, and they started the
morning assembly at 7:15am. They sang the national anthem loudly together, and then they
started their morning exercises. The assembly ended at 7:25am and they sang while heading back
to their classrooms. I went to grade one with Ms. Thana'a, she started the lesson with the
morning routine. In class, the students were paired up, one naughty student with one quiet
student. This strategy helps to keep the students focused and quiet. The teacher asked me to
make sure that there isn't a missing student. I prepared a worksheet about the letter D, and she
assisted me. She gave me the first 10 minutes of the class to start the lesson. She asked for my
help to check on the students' Textbooks and mark them. She also talked to me about the
students` personalities and how to deal with them. One of the class rules is that the students
aren't allowed to come in class with their pencil cases, she has to hand them the pencils and
colors in the classroom. I helped her distribute the pencils, colors, and worksheets.
There is a student dealing with a family issue called Salem. He always sits in the administration
and refuses to go in class without his mother. During my previous observation, I sat and talked
with him and convinced him to go to class with me. I felt so proud of myself for being able to do
something that most of the other teachers couldn't do.
I feel that the teachers care about the students and are helpful to them, and the way they handled
the class is very well and organized.
