The Special Science Program is one of the 110 ESEP (Engineering and Science Education Program) schools in the
country with support of the DOST-SEI by providing science equipment, books and science laboratory building.
The current name of the program is Science, Technology, and Engineering Program.
The program offers additional Science and Mathematics subjects.
Grade 7- Earth and Environmental Science
Grade 8- Basic Statistics in Research, Geometry
Third Year- Biotechnology/ Advanced Statistics, Basic Physics
Fourth Year Advanced Chemistry, Research in Science
Admission
Students shall be admitted to the program based on the following requirements:
1. Pupils who belong to the top 10 of the graduating class for elementary schools with at least 500 pupils or
the top ten percent (10%) of the graduating class for elementary schools with 1000 or more pupils and who
have been certified by their respective principals as qualified to take the entrance examination;
2. Pupils with a general average of 85% in Science, Mathematics and English and 83% in other subjects from
Grades 3 to 6 as evidenced by Form 137 (Pupils Permanent Record).
Selection shall be done in 2 stages by the school as follows:
Stage 1 Preliminary elimination by the school through pre-qualifying examination
Stage 2 Qualifying examination
Requirements & Fees
a. Duly accomplished application form
b. Two (2) latest & identical 2 x 2 pictures with name tag
c. Photocopy of Grade VI Report Card duly certified correct by the Elementary Principal or bring original
copy of report card together with a photocopy to be certified by the BCNHS Guidance Counselor.
d. Grade Requirements as of Third Grading Period: A general average of 85% or higher; grade in Science
& Technology, Mathematics, and English must be 85% or higher and, no grade lower than 80% in other
subjects
e. 250 pesos examination fee for test materials, honorarium, and other incidental expenses
Retention
To remain in the program, the student should obtain a general average of 85% in Science and Mathematics and 83%
in the rest of the subjects without grade lower than 80% in any grading period. Failure to meet the grade
requirements shall be a cause of transfer to the regular class.
