NARRATIVE REPORT LAB # 5
The patterns in data with a geographic (map) component are discovered using geospatial
modeling approaches. The Geographic Modeling Wizard offers ways for evaluating geospatial data that
include and exclude time.
What we learned in the past lecture videos on how to browse a file, lets jump on the Viewing
Geospatial Data using QGIS Browser. After you browse the data in QGIS, setting it into
Butuan_Brgy_UTM.shp that could be found in the layer in file tree. If you want to see some information
and data set, just click Metadata. Toggle over to the Attributes tab. Each row corresponds to one polygon
in this representation of the data layer's properties. The columns in the data refer to the features of each
polygon.
Viewing Geospatial Data using QGIS Desktop, let’s launch the QGIS Desktop application. Go to Add
Vector Layer and it will display the Data Source / Vector. Open OGR Supported Vector Datasets then you
have to browse the directory of the Laboratory activity vector dataset that we have done. Set it into
Butuan_Brgy_UTM.shp and open it. You will now see the map features in Barangays of butuan. You will
see the random colors of Vector GIS Layers. Then add the data to QGIS by adding the Vector layer window.
Open the attribute table just right click the data and Open attribute table. The information will shows. You
will now see the Barangay codes of different barangay in Butuan and other numbers of Pop_95 and Area.
In identifying the spatial features and the corresponding attributes, just click the identify button.
To add Raster data in QGIS desktop, just go to Add raster layer and the Data Source Manager will
appear. Open GDAL it is a software library that stores some information used for reading and raster data.
Then Select Butuan_DEM.img and open it. Then add the data source manager to QGIS desktop. And the
map of Butuan in dark color will appear. We have to click Raster Layer and set the file into Arc/Info Binary
Grid. After that, select the [Link] file and open.
