Objectives of the Project
The following sentences are the purposes of this project proposal which focuses for
promoting affordable and clean energy and sustainable cities and communities. As a result,
the purpose of the two-months and one-week project/activity is the installation and
monitoring of the solar lights in casisang road . Toward this end, the following objectives are
set:
1. To install solar lights along the unlit roads leading to the School Annex.
2. To enhance the safety and security of students traveling to and from school.
3. To promote environmental sustainability through the use of renewable energy sources.
4. To encourage community involvement in maintaining a safe educational environment.
Project Description
A. Background of the Project
In many communities, unlit roads pose significant safety risks for students traveling to
and from the School Annex, especially during early morning and late evening hours. The
absence of adequate lighting increases the likelihood of accidents and criminal activities,
which can deter students from attending school regularly. Similarly, Herningtyas emphasizes
that public road lighting is vital for ensuring the security and safety of road users at night, as
inadequate lighting can lead to increased road accidents and crime rates (Herningtyas, 2023).
Furthermore, the transition between lit and unlit road sections can impair drivers' detection
abilities, increasing the risk of accidents in poorly lit areas (Fotios et al., 2017).

This project aims to install solar lights along the unlit roads leading to the School
Annex, enhancing safety and promoting a secure learning environment. The psychological
aspect of feeling safe while traveling is essential; if students perceive their routes as
dangerous due to poor lighting, they may opt to avoid school altogether, impacting their
education.
B. Justification of the Project
The installation of solar lights along unlit roads to the School Annex is essential for
enhancing the safety and security of students. Poorly lit pathways significantly increase the
risk of accidents and criminal activities, which can deter students from attending school and
negatively impact their educational experience. By providing adequate lighting, we can create
a safer environment that encourages regular school attendance and fosters a sense of security
among students and their families.
Moreover, the use of solar energy aligns with sustainable practices, reducing reliance
on non-renewable energy sources and promoting environmental awareness within the
community. This project not only addresses immediate safety concerns but also contributes to
long-term environmental benefits, making it a vital initiative for the community's well-being
and sustainability.

C. Benefits derived from the Project
The installation of solar lights along unlit roads leading to the School Annex will
yield a multiple of benefits that extend beyond mere illumination. First and foremost, the
enhanced lighting will significantly increase safety for students and community members,
allowing them to navigate their surroundings with greater confidence during early morning
and late evening hours. This improvement is expected to lead to a reduction in accidents and
crime rates in the area, as well-lit pathways deter potential criminal activities and provide a
safer environment for all.
Moreover, the project promotes environmental awareness by utilizing solar energy, a
renewable resource that reduces reliance on fossil fuels and minimizes carbon footprints. This
initiative not only serves to educate the community about the importance of sustainable
practices but also encourages a collective responsibility towards environmental stewardship.
Additionally, the project fosters enhanced community engagement and support for school
initiatives, as local residents will be involved in the installation and maintenance of the solar
lights. This collaboration strengthens community ties and instills a sense of ownership and
pride in the safety and well-being of their shared environment.
D. Coverage
The coverage of the project is specifically focused on the unlit parts of the road
leading to the School Annex, particularly in Purok 6 Casisang. This targeted approach
ensures that the installation of solar lights addresses the most critical areas in need of
illumination, thereby enhancing safety for students and community members in that specific
locale.
Methodology
The lecture-symposium method will be utilized and implemented in the project.
Additionally, setting up of waste segregation trash bins will also be achieve based on the
project proposal aim.
