Reflection (1700 words)

The model of Reflection adopted is known as the Gibbs Reflective Cycle.

Part 1: My Narrative

Description

Starting this project provided a valuable opportunity to delve into strategic frameworks and

apply them to practical business challenges, particularly in the rapidly evolving cybersecurity

consulting industry. Expanding cybersecurity services into new markets highlighted the necessity

of comprehensive market analysis and systematic decision-making, a theme that became central

throughout the project. The project focused on creating a market entry strategy for a cybersecurity

consulting firm targeting Germany. Using strategic models such as PESTEL analysis, Porter’s Five

Forces, and the 7P marketing mix, I identified market opportunities and risks. My tasks included

drafting proposals, conducting market analysis, and presenting actionable recommendations.

Feelings

Initially, I felt apprehensive about addressing the complexities of entering a foreign market.

Doubts about my ability to create viable strategies led to hesitation in decision-making. However,

as I progressed, the structured use of frameworks and collaborative discussions improved my

confidence. The positive reception of my presentations further validated my approach.

Evaluation

What worked well?

 The PESTEL framework provided a comprehensive understanding of external influences,

such as Germany’s technological advancements and sustainability priorities.

 Innovative recommendations, such as proposing energy-efficient data centers, aligned with

market needs and enhanced the company’s reputation.

 Effective communication with the team fostered collaborative problem-solving.

What could have been improved?

 Resource allocation was not always optimal, leading to delays in completing certain tasks.

 Stakeholder feedback was not integrated as thoroughly as it could have been, occasionally

resulting in misaligned priorities.

Part 2: My Objectives

Personal Objectives

1. Improving Creativity Skills

Description:

Creativity is essential for crafting market entry strategies aligned with local preferences.

Successful strategies often involve adapting products, services, and branding to resonate with

cultural, social, and economic nuances. Examples include customizing offerings to local tastes and

leveraging partnerships with local businesses to gain trust and credibility.

My creativity ensured tailored solutions, but the occasional disconnect between innovation

and practicality highlighted the need for a more balanced approach.

Feelings:

Initially, I struggled with doubt about my ability to think outside the box, feeling that

innovative problem-solving was beyond my capabilities. However, as I delved into real-world

examples and case studies, I began to see how successful individuals and companies approached
challenges with unconventional strategies and creative solutions. This exposure showed me that

thinking creatively isn't just an innate skill but a practice that can be cultivated through study and

observation. Witnessing these inspiring examples helped me develop a deeper understanding of

how to approach problems from new angles, ultimately boosting my confidence and encouraging

me to apply creative thinking to my own projects and decisions.

Evaluation:

Creative approaches enabled tailored solutions, such as proposing eco-friendly data centers

to align with Germany’s strong sustainability priorities. These proposals not only addressed market

demands but also enhanced the company’s reputation.

engagement. Effective presentations helped establish credibility and facilitated productive

discussions, which strengthened the acceptance of my recommendations. However, the occasional

difficulty in addressing unanticipated questions highlighted the need for greater adaptability in live

settings.

Feelings:

Initially nerve-wracking, presenting became easier with preparation and feedback.

Refining tone, pacing, and handling of audience questions improved my confidence and

effectiveness.

Evaluation:

Positive feedback confirmed the clarity and professionalism of my presentations. This

recognition reinforced the value of thorough preparation and audience engagement.
