end energy is a fundamental Concept in science describing the capacity to do work or cause
change it comes in many forms and is involved in almost every aspect ECT of Our Lives energy
is a key part of our daily activities driving the functionality of household appliances lighting up
our cities enabling transportation and supporting various forms of communication and
Technology it also plays a vital role in the economy powering Industries and
[Link] businesses without energy many conveniences and essential Services we rely on
would not be possible energy cannot be created or destroyed but it exists in various forms the
usefulness of energy lies in its ability to be transformed or converted from one form to another
which is known as energy conversion this versatility enables energy to be harnessed and
applied in numerous ways making it integral to a wide array of processes and Technologies from
generating electricity to powering vehicles and from enabling
[Link] physical movement to heating our homes the conversion of energy underpins
many aspects of modern life this ability to change forms is what makes energy so incredibly
useful and essential before delving into the specifics of energy conversions let's first explore
some of the different forms of energy each with its unique characteristics and applications
kinetic energy this is the energy of motion for example when you're riding a bike the movement
is a result of kinetic energy potential energy stored energy
[Link] which can be converted into kinetic energy think of a roller coaster at the top of a
hill it has high potential energy which turns into kinetic energy as it [Music] descends thermal
energy the energy related to temperature when you heat water you're adding thermal energy
making the water molecules move faster and the water to get warmer light energy this is the
energy we see as light like the sunlight that brightens our day or the light from a lamp that
allows us to read it at night chemical energy this type of
[Link] energy is stored within the substances we encounter every day a common
example is the food we eat when we consume food our bodies break it down and release the
energy stored in it this energy is then used by our body to move play and think another familiar
example is the gasoline used in carb the energy stored in gasoline is released during
combustion powering the car's [Music] engine in essence chemical energy is like a stored power
that is released when a chemical reaction occurs electrical energy this is the
[Link] energy used when we power devices like lights computers and TVs for example
when you charge your phone electrical energy is being used to refill its battery this energy
travels through wires and is very common in our homes and schools other forms of energy
include nuclear energy gravitational energy magnetic energy elastic energy and Sound Energy
having explored the different forms of energy and their significance in our daily lives let's now
delve into the fascinating world of energy conversions energy conversion is the
[Link] process of changing energy from one form to another a phenomenon that occurs
constantly around us and is pivotal in making energy useful in various applications here are
some examples photosynthesis in plants plants convert the light energy from the Sun into
chemical energy through photosynthesis which is then used for growth and sustenance an
electric toaster when you make toast the electrical energy from your outlet is converted into
thermal energy which Browns the bread solar panels solar panels
[Link] transform light energy from the Sun into electrical energy which can power
homes cars and devices hydroelectric dams here the potential energy of stored water is
converted into kinetic energy as it flows down and then into electrical energy through turbines
human exercise when you exercise your body converts the chemical energy from food into
kinetic energy for movement and thermal energy as your body heats [Music] up wind turbines
these these devices convert the kinetic energy of wind into electrical
[Link] [Music] energy car engine in a car engine the chemical energy in fuel is
converted into kinetic energy propelling the car forward batteries and gadgets batteries and
gadgets like smartphones and laptops store chemical energy which is converted into electrical
energy to power these devices each of these examples demonstrates the versatility and
importance of energy conversions in both natural and technological contexts highlighting how
energy is continuously transformed to meet our needs and drive

[Link] [Music] earthspan hello learners this is earthben today we are going to talk about
another fun topic in physics it is all about the types of energy [Music] energy can be categorized
into two broad topics the kinetic energy and the potential energy these two are the basic forms
of energy and we know that kinetic energy is the energy of moving objects while potential
energy is energy that is stored but aside from this two energies there are also other types of
energy this includes thermal energy radiant energy light
[Link] energy chemical energy nuclear energy electrical energy gravitational energy and
mechanical energy let us discuss them one by one the first type of energy that we're going to
discuss is the thermal energy thermal energy or also called as heat energy is produced when
there is a rise in temperature that causes atoms and molecules to move faster and collide with
each other but how is thermal energy produced thermal energy is the energy that comes from
the heated up substance which means that the hotter the
[Link] substance the more its particles move and the higher its thermal energy to better
understand this let us have an example say you have a hot pot you forgot the pot is hot so you
grab it with your hand now your hand is burnt because of the hot pot the thermal energy from
the hot pot is being transferred to your hand that is why you felt the burn in your hands so better
be careful when dealing with hot things [Music] the next type of energy that we're going to
discuss is the radiant energy so what is radiant energy
[Link] radiant energy is a form of electromagnetic energy this type of energy can take
form of visible waves which is what we call light energy but we will be talking about light energy
later the sun produces a lot of radiant energy which is transmitted to earth as light radiant
energy that is transmitted by the electromagnetic waves can come in different forms some
examples of radiant energy are from the sunshine x-rays and radiant heating systems i have
mentioned light energy in radiant energy but what is light energy
[Link] light energy is a form of electromagnetic radiation of a wavelength which can be
seen by the human eye it is a type of kinetic energy in an electromagnetic spectrum we can see
that light has the wavelength visible to our eyes light energy is formed through the movement of
photons photons are like tiny pockets of energy so when an object's atoms heat up photons are
produced from the movement of atoms also note that the hotter the object the more photons are
produced and that is how light energy is formed
[Link] if you're asking how light energy is used well basically light energy is used to help
us see the light can either come naturally with the use of the sun or fire but it can also be from
man-made objects like candles or light bulbs light energy is also used by plants during
photosynthesis plants capture the light energy from the sun and use it to produce their food
[Music] next we have the chemical energy chemical energy is stored in the bonds that connect
atoms with other atoms and molecules with other
[Link] molecules because chemical energy is stored it is a form of potential energy so
what does that mean it means that when a chemical reaction takes place the stored chemical
energy is released chemical energy is the most widely used type of energy in the world most
humans don't know that they are already using chemical energy but how is it used chemical
energy can be found in your food in a burning wood and even in photosynthesis chemical
energy is produced in the food that we eat and that energy keeps us warm help us
[Link] move and allows us to grow stored chemical energy can also be found in coal
biomass and chemical batteries next type of energy is the nuclear energy nuclear energy comes
from the nucleus of atoms how is nuclear energy released it is released by nuclear fusion or
nuclear fission nuclear fusion is when the nuclei are refused together while nuclear fission is
when the nuclei are split apart nuclear energy is a non-renewable energy source that comes
from the nucleus of atoms nuclear plants use nuclear fission of a
[Link] radioactive element called uranium to generate electricity so how does it work the
nucleus of our uranium atom is hit by a neutron it causes the uranium atom to split into two
atoms and at the same time the energy is released in the form of heat and radiation and as a
result more neutrons are released which means that the process repeats itself or in simpler
terms there is a chain reaction during the process did you know that nuclear power plants must
shut down every 18 to 24 months in order to dispose the
[Link] used uranium fuel this is because the uranium fuel becomes a radioactive waste
[Music] moving on to the next type of energy we have the electrical energy electrical energy is
caused by the movement of electrical charges called electrons the faster the charges move the
more electrical energy they carry since the charges that cause the energy are moving then we
can say that electrical energy is a form of kinetic energy so what are the examples of electrical
energy the first example that we will tackle is
[Link] during a thunderstorm when there is a thunderstorm we can see lightning right
did you know that lightning is a form of electrical energy that's right lightning is a form of
electrical energy since during a thunderstorm two electrically charged regions in the atmosphere
temporarily equalizes themselves causing the instantaneous release of energy in other words
electricity in the atmosphere is being discharged another example would be electric eels electric
eels generate electrical energy which they use to defend against
[Link] predators and to stun their prey and now we have gravitational energy
gravitational energy is the kind of energy associated by no other than gravity it is the potential
energy stored by an object because of its higher position compared to a lower position what do
you think causes gravitational energy gravitational energy occurs and increases as an object or
a system moves away further from the center of the earth gravitational energy is dependent on
the masses of two bodies and their distance apart an example
[Link] of when you can experience gravitational energy is when you are riding a roller
coaster when you are riding a roller coaster you experience microgravity which means that you
are moving in the same speed as the vehicle you are riding in as i have said when something is
in a higher position its gravitational energy is high so when we place a book on the top shelf it
has a higher gravitational potential energy than the book on the bottom shelf because it has
further to fall [Music] the last type of energy that we are
[Link] going to discuss is the mechanical energy the type of energy that you use when
working or the energy acquired by the objects upon which work is done is known as mechanical
energy mechanical energy is the type of energy that an object acquired due to its motion or
position note that mechanical energy can be either kinetic energy or potential energy an
example of a mechanical energy is a moving car the car possesses a mechanical energy due to
its motion and since the car is in motion the mechanical energy in this example is a
[Link] kinetic energy another example would be lifting a ball over your head the lifted
ball possesses a mechanical energy due to its vertical position above the ground and since the
bowl is stationary then it is in the form of potential energy before we end let us first summarize
everything today you learned about the eight types of energy namely thermal energy radiant
energy light energy chemical energy nuclear energy electrical energy gravitational energy and
mechanical energy now did you enjoy our topic for today i
[Link] hope you certainly did see you again next time for more interesting and fun topics
only here in earthman learning has never been this easy for anyone anywhere have a nice day

[Link] energy transformation learning is fun with great 12 blessons don't forget to
subscribe the food that you eat provides you the energy to do work you can run walk swim or do
your homework and chores because of the chemical energy you get from food even sleeping
breathing and eating require some energy from your body it is important to note that the
chemical energy that you get from food as not lost or used up when you do those activities it is
simply changed into another form of energy the cells in your body break down
[Link] the chemical bonds in the food and release the energy from those bonds you
then use this energy to keep your body organs working move your muscles ride your bike or
toss a ball you might have observed that you feel hot and start sweating after running biking or
playing this is because some of the energy is transformed into heat the law of conservation of
energy states that energy cannot be created or destroyed it may be transformed from one form
into another but the total amount of energy never
[Link] [Music] changes energy can be changed from one formed to another such as
chemical energy into mechanical energy heat energy and many more energy transformation
occurs everywhere always it can be observed at Sunrise as the light of the Sun reaches the
Earth plants absorb it to make their own food light energy from the Sun is transformed into
chemical energy stored in plants in cooking the chemical energy of the liquefied p petroleum
gas or LPG is transformed into light and heat to cook food other examples where energy
[Link] conversion takes place or in a battery operated car waterfalls roller coaster
cleaning the house walking running watching television eating or chewing food calling through
cellular phones driving a car and many more tell what form of energy is Illustrated in the
following pictures [Music] activity not wasted just transformed analyze and describe what you
would see and feel based on the pictures battery is placed inside the flashlight flashlight is
turned on flashlight lights and warms up minutes after it was turned
[Link] on when the flashlight is turned on what energy transformation happened from
the battery to the [Music] bulb in the activity you have observed how energy is transformed from
one form to another transformation of energy occurs in the flashlight when the flashlight is
switched on the chemical energy from the battery is transformed into electrical energy through
the circuit and then transformed into light energy and heat released to the [Music] surroundings
in a simple circuit the source of energy is the chemical energy
[Link] from a battery chemical energy present in a battery generates electricity the
electrons are allowed to flow through the wire that creates an electric current electric current
that carries electric energy flows from the negative terminal towards the positive terminal of the
battery thus giving energy to the light bulb fossil fuels such as coal natural gas petroleum are all
derived from of the bodies of plants and or animals in a power plant these carbon-based fuels
are burned to generate steam or heat that turn the
[Link] turbines turbines are large wheels that rotate when pushed by steam water wind
or pressure the turbines then drive the generators to produce electrical energy the electrical
energy produced by the generators is distributed to homes which is used to power our electrical
appliances hence energy is not produced or made in power plants instead it is simply an energy
that transforms from chemical to heat to to Mechanical to electrical and to sound when we turn
on our radio or TV heat when we use the
[Link] flat iron or mechanical energy when we switch on the electric F aside from
carbon-based fuels there are other alternative sources of energy these are classified as either
renewable or non-renewable energy sources renewable energy examples wind energy water
geothermal energy biomass energy tidal energy and solar energy non-renewable energy
examples fossil fuel such as coal petroleum natural gas and oil and nuclear energy it is
important to conserve energy because the fossil fuels that we use are limited and emit harmful
[Link] pollutants transformation of energy may also be observed by simply doing
household chores when hammering the nail mechanical energy is turned into sound energy and
heat energy as you continue hitting the nail when ironing clothes the electrical energy from the
source or Outlet is transformed into heat that makes the iron hot in a boiling water the chemical
energy from the LPG tank is transformed into light energy and heat that makes the water boil at
home we use different appliances like TV electric fan air condition
[Link] refrigerator electric lamp and more all these devices transform one energy to
another form and release heat to the surroundings the end product of energy transformations is
heat wasted heat is collected in the surroundings and results in the warming of the environment
name the energy transformations for each illustration [Music] match [Music] bus [Music] drum
lamp [Music] electric [Music] fan I have learned that energy transformation is a process of
changing energy from one form to another which shows that chemical energy
[Link] is Chang to mechanical energy switching on the light bulb a horse running after
eating grass which energy transformation takes place when running chemical energy to
electrical energy chemical energy to mechanical energy how does energy transform when
tapping a drum chemical energy to sound energy mechanical energy to sound [Music] energy
which is always produced when there is energy transformation heat light [Music] energy what
form of energy is transformed to electrical energy if the power plant uses wind as its resource
[Link] mechanical energy Sound [Music] Energy Maria used her cell phone to call her
mother after a few minutes she felt the phone getting warm Which diagram correctly shows the
energy transformation that took place chemical electrical sound and heat chemical light and
sound [Music] which of the following energy conversions occur in a solar powered light heat to
electrical energy light energy to electrical [Music] energy it is the conversion of energy from one
form to another energy conservation energy transform
[Link] [Music] which energy transformation takes place when gasoline is burned in a car
chemical heat and sound chemical mechanical and heat which energy transformation takes
place when you light a candle chemical light and heat electrical light and heat arrange the
