This company is

This company is, like many others, an online scam that is impossible to cancel. I am quite certain that I cancelled before my trial period ended, yet money has been withdrawn from my card for over a year. Now when I log into “my account,” there is no button to cancel—the option is simply not available. When I contact customer service, they claim that I do not have an account, even though it clearly shows as active and money is being charged.

We’re sorry to hear that this has been your experience, as this is certainly not how we want our service to be perceived.
To clarify, a subscription is only cancelled once the full cancellation process has been completed and a confirmation email has been sent. If a confirmation email is not received, it usually means that the cancellation was not fully finalised.
When you contacted us, our chatbot initially suggested that there might not be an active account based on the information provided at that moment, as you mentioned not being able to see a cancellation option. Once we looked into your case manually, we were able to locate your account and confirm that it was possible to cancel the subscription. We then assisted you further directly in your support case.
We never make it impossible to cancel a subscription, and we also never withdraw payments without an active account being in place. You can find more detailed information about what happened and how it was handled in the conversation we’ve had with you via customer support.
If anything is still unclear, you’re very welcome to reply in your open case and we’ll be happy to help further.

Beware of the trial offer

I got automatically switched to premium level after trial(20 euros/100 hours per month). I had never selected it (i was on basic level earlier, as that matches what I use) and customer support refuses a refund...a bit scammy...

We apologise that this was not clear to you. When you take advantage of a fixed price offer, you can choose which subscription you want to use during the offer period. In your case, the 100-hour subscription was chosen, which meant that during the offer you paid the same discounted price regardless of the subscription level.
When the offer period ends, the subscription will automatically continue at the level selected during the offer, at the regular price. As no change was made back to another plan before then, the account was charged for the same plan used during the offer.
We understand that this can be confusing and will take on board your feedback on how we can be clearer in our communication going forward. You are always welcome to contact us if you need help adjusting your subscription or have questions about your account.

I started a free trial in August via…

I started a free trial in August via the mobile app and later discovered I’d been billed for 6 months at €19/month (around €114 total) without noticing. I contacted support as soon as I realized.

Their response: they “can’t find any sign” I cancelled previously, it’s the customer’s responsibility to cancel on time, they don’t send reminders when a trial converts to a paid subscription because it’s “common practice,” and therefore they won’t refund anything. They offered only to cancel the subscription going forward.

I understand subscriptions auto-renew unless cancelled. But a trial-to-paid flow that’s easy to forget, no reminder, and then a flat refusal to offer any goodwill refund when the customer raises it feels designed to profit from oversight rather than earn loyalty.

If you try this service, set a cancellation reminder the day you start the trial, and regularly check your App Store/Google Play subscriptions. I won’t use this company again based on how billing issues are handled.

This is the worst I ever experienced - no customer service. I have cancelled my subscription and still get charged

Please font use this app. When you cancel your subscription they just keep on charging you every month. I contacted the customer service over more then 20 times without any response. There us no telephone number and no email reply. I stopper my subscription since 8-2024 and have been paying ever since as nobody responds or solves my problem
Scandalous!!!!!!

Unfortunately, we did not receive a response to that message at the time. Without confirmation from the account holder, we are unable to terminate a subscription, as this is required under GDPR regulations.

The app does not have an i watch app and the books do not always play even when Nextory is the only media app open on the device. The selecetion of books is the same as other peoviders and the overall functionallity of the app is good. It is also easy to search for new books using search. Not the Ai those recomendations are not good.

Great selection, but missing chapters

You have great set of books to listen and read. Some of the books I read dont have chapters and that is very annoying especially when listening book before sleeping. I have not recognise this same problem with any other solutions.

Got some try for two months free trial

Got some try for two months free trial, did not find it useful. But ofc what i did miss was the autorenewal..So another 12 eurs for nothing.

To me this seems to be hostile marketing. But at least you get people to write reviews about you.

Lots of audio books and very new ones as welö

I love that you can find lots of audio books even recently released. I also love that you can listen and abandon books books is you realize they are not for you. You can download as many as you need for long walks or flights.

Greediest company out there

Bad customer service. No compassion, no ethics. Wanted my money back when I payed full price for over a year without using their service once. Dirty bastards. Storytell and Bookbeat is way better btw

A test period is made hard to stop - on purpose?

I used a free 20 hr test period but found it very difficult to discontinue and finish it. It can not be done in the app, and on the website it took me a long while to find out how to do it. I almost panicked and believed I involuntarily had signed up for a subscription.

I got a giftcard in Finland for my…

I got a giftcard in Finland for my birthday and when I was about to start using it the code did not exist. I contacted the customer service but they weren't able to do anything about it although I sent them both the card nummer and the receat, where you could see when and where the giftcard was bought. Never ever will I use nextory again.

Poor usability. And reading time is calculated according to some strange formula. A fast reader gets about 30 hours of reading time instead of the promised 100 hours.

Thank you for your continued feedback regarding the reading time calculation. Just to clarify, the reading hours reset with each payment period and are shared across all profiles on your account. For e-books, the system counts a set number of characters as one hour, so reading speed or skipping chapters doesn't affect the total time. For audiobooks, the time deducted corresponds to how long you listen, with playback speed adjustments taken into account. Excellent subscription- many available books for a good price

I use the app to read almost every night.
They have a broad catalogue of books to read and also to listen to. I would recommend a family subscription- good value for money.

I canceled my Nextory subscription a…

I canceled my Nextory subscription a few months ago, but I was still charged $80 for a service I haven’t used. The subscription is now canceled, but I haven’t received a refund. This has been confusing and frustrating, and actually feels like a scam. I would appreciate it if Nextory could resolve this and issue my refund as soon as possible.

I'm sorry to hear that you've been charged even though you've canceled the subscription. There may be several reasons why you continue to be charged, it may be that you have had several accounts running at the same time and that you then only canceled one of them, or it may be that you canceled your subscription via a third party, we do not cooperate with external companies when it comes to sensitive data such as terminations. If you have canceled your subscription a few months ago, please send us a picture of the cancellation confirmation and we will of course investigate if it has been charged incorrectly.
