1. The one line diagram of a three phase power system is shown in Fig.

Select a common base of 100 MVA

and 20 KV on the generator side. Draw an impedance diagram with all impedances including the load
impedance marked in p.u.

The three phase load at bus 4 absorbs 62 MVA, 0.8 power factor lagging at 10.5 KV. Line 1 and Line
2 have reactances of 45Ω and 60 Ω respectively.

4. Determine Zbus for the network shown in fig. where the impedance are in p.u.

6. Perform two iteration of Newton Raphson load flow method and determine the power flow
solution for the given system. Take base MVA as 100.

8. Explain the step by step computational procedure for the Fast decoupled method of

load flow analysis.

9. A 3 phase transmission line operating at 33kV and having resistance of 5 Ω and reactance of 15Ω
respectively is connected to the generating station bus bar through 5,000 KVA step up transformer
which has a reactance of 0.05 p.u Connected to the bus bar are two alternators one of 10,000KVA
having 0.08 p.u. and another of 5000 KVA with 0.06 p.u. reactance. Calculate the KVA at a short
circuit fault between phases occurring at high voltage terminals of the transformers.

12. The generators at buses 1 and 3 of the network have impedances j1.5 p.u. If a 30 short circuit fault
occurs at bus 3, when there is no load (all bus voltage are equal to 1.0< 0 deg * p .u.) find initial
symmetrical current in fault in the line 1-3, and post fault voltages when a fault at bus 2 using bus
building algorithm.

13. A 25 MVA and 11.0 KV generator has a subtransient reactance of 20% is connected to two
motors through transmission line for zero sequence as shown in Fig. The motors are loaded to draw
15 and 7.5 MW at 10.8 KV, 0.8 power factor leading with 25% subtransient reactance. The 30
transformers are rated 30 MVA, 10.8/121 KV, with leakage reactance of 10%, series reactance of
transmission line is 80 2 If prefault current is neglected, calculate the fault current and subtransient
current in all parts of the system when L-G fault occurs at fault F.

14. Derive the expression for the fault current in double line to ground fault on an unloaded generator
in terms of symmetrical components.
18. Describe the equal area criterion for transient stability analysis of a system.

20. The single line diagram of Fig. shows a generator connected through parallel transmission lines to
a large metropolitan system considered as an infinite bus. The machine is delivering 0.9 p.u power,
0.8 p.f lagging, E_{t} = 1 p.u. The transient reactance of the generator is 0.3 p.u. Determine (a) the
power angle equation for the given system. (b) Draw power angle curve, (c) Swing equation.
